My girl was quite worried but the clippers so I got the liverman harmony cordless clippers, they're great. Really quiet and light ;D Obviously we did some desensitisation first though (the electric toothbrush trick is magic!). good luck x

Moser Avalons (similar to the Harmony's I believe) VERY quiet, light and easy to hold, and cope well with a full clip on my arab (I do at least 3-4 clips a year on her). Also do a trace/blanket on my ultra-yak Irish cob, but wouldn't do a full clip or hog on her (they are good for the tricky trimming bits on her legs though)

Wahl Avalon are very very quiet but i find they couldn't cope with shetland coats! lol 3 sets of blades and i still couldn't get a full clip done! lol
I now have lister liberty and i find they are pretty quiet and easy to use.. my nervous ponies cope well with them, however my clipper phobia pony was helped a lot by Sarah Weston and now we can clip him easily using clicker training, from a rearing pony who throws himself at you! (mini turned 16hh! lol) to one who actually leans into the clippers to be clipped!

I was going to say Liveryman Harmony cordless clippers too. Quiet and safe as no trailing cord if they get worried and move about.

My instructor used liveryman element trimmers to clip a full horse who was an absolute nightmare with the normal clippers, took a bit longer but they are brilliant things, not like normal trimmers. they are much quieter and cordless. like the sound of the harmony clippers- might have a look

I've got the Liveryman Harmony clippers. They are fine for a fine coat or for the first clip of the year in October when the full winter coat isn't through yet, but I've found that they cannot cope with the second clip in December/January when the coat is much coarser. Even with newly sharpened blades they just don't have the power to get through my cob's coat. So they're a good choice if you have a TB or Arab type and are maybe doing just a bib or chaser clip, but not for a full clip on a cob I'm afraid. Has anyone seen the new clippers brought out by Liveryman? Here's a link www.hopevalleysaddlery.co.uk/product-detail.asp?ProductId=2381
