What do you all think about using Danilon or Bute long term?
Beauty is on Pink Powder Senior, Devils Claw, Turmeric and Cider Vinegar which is all working out ver expensive!
My vet suggested last week, I scrap all of them and put him on Danilon permanently, 1 sachet every other day along with a decent veteran feed, he get 2kg of 16+ cube, Top Spec daily, beet and chaff too!
He is sound all apart from odd day when weather really cold and I always give him a danilon on the day of a hard hack so he’s not sore in the morning anyway?
My Vet said as he is now 35, we might as well be sure he’s not in pain, I don't know, it somehow seems wrong riding him on Danilon but at 35 does it matter?
I am tempted to swap him to Topspec Veteran (as £4 more a bag), 16+, Beet and Chaff with Danilon and just stop all the other stuff, would certainly make my life easier and cheaper!
What you think?
Beauty is doing exceptionally well at the moment, the 16+ nuts soaked have made massive difference and he is holding weight ok and full of energy, more so then years, he is in medium work, we did 12 miles 2 Saturdays, 4 miles last Thursday and Saturday and 10 miles on Sunday, lots of cantering and trotting on every ride. The 10 miles Sunday took us just over hour and ½ so were going some! Let him out of his stable this morning and he shot off at 100 miles an hour bucking!!
Half of me thinks give it a go and the other half is loathed to meddle as he is doing great!
Opinions?
