The earlier thread on good doers got me thinking and I gave Marjorie a thorough assessment today. Weight: 438kg. Up again Condition score: closer to 3 than a 2.5 on the 5 point scale. Coat gleaming, even her winter furries which is unheard of. VERY spritely No hay yet. Out 24/7. The smallest of token feeds. This time last year she was 390kg and I was shovelling food down her neck just to keep her weight level. I guess life back this side of the Exe-Tees axis (almost!) is agreeing with her. How are yours doing? Are you doing anything different this year?

What a pretty girl Marjorie is :-)
Mine are OK, I posted last week about them looking good, but over the last week or so they seem to have put a bit on.. They do actually put weight on over night.. I have had a busy few weeks so rather that riding 6 days week they have only been ridden 3 days..
But I plan to get back on it now, they don't look bad and are looking much better than this time last year. My biggest change is keeping them muzzled in the summer and much lighter rugs. It's worked for us... Finger crossed with a bit of good weather over the winter they will come out of it pretty trim!

They are a little fat but I dont mind at the minute as it is cold and wet which is the most challenging weather for them the rugged on is gleaming and in good health and about the right weight she is on a huge amount of food though as she is working quite hard

Trimmer figured, due to living on a hill now - and having a soggy poached field No signs of mud fever (touch wood) Coat shiny when not covered in mud Have to give more hay at night now due to lack of forage, (last winter I was putting 8 - 12lbs out, now it's about 16lb or 20lb if stabled, but the hay's good and she's keeping weight on

I got a compliment on my lad today that he was looking trim :-) Well it's all relative as he is still a chunk, but it's going in the right direction! Forgot to weight tape - d'oh! He's in lovely condition, thick shiny coat, feathers doing a good job at protecting his legs. No hay yet, we still have plenty of grass.

Lloyd is doing ok. He is out during the day, and in at night. He was out on a fairly bare muddy field, but has just gone onto a field with grass today. Its fairly long, but shouldnt have much in it. Have cut his night hay down a little now that he has more to eat during the day. This was taken this week, think he's looking pretty good?

Since going onto part livery we did 4 weeks of hillwork and Talin really shaped up. He then got cellulitis so hasn't done a lot since! He's out during the day on a big field on a hill with not a lot of grass and in at night with basically ad-lib haylage plus a scoop of hifi morning and night. I weigh taped him last week and he was 426kgs - the lightest he's ever been in my 3 years with him but he doesn't look too thin because he's finally got some muscle! Attachments:

Mine are all doing well, despite the constant wet weather since the end of September which has poached our grazing. Blaze has dropped some weight (which is good ;D ) Jasmine and Marygold are holding theirs well and all three are very glossy and healthy (under the mud!) We have been feeding hay for weeks and they also get some straw in a big feeder that OH made for me, and a small feed.

Oldie Crystal is doing well, shiny coat and really happy...due for a clip soon. Inaya could probably do to lose a bit..madam is getting podgy...mind you I haven't ridden for almost 2weeks cos I've been I'll and with the yard getting icy, I dont like to risk taking them to the indoor....and prince is looking good...put the weight on he needed to, his leg has come down, and he's being lunged in preparation for re backing in the spring.

I was getting slightly concerned that due to a very waterlogged field I was expecting Reg to be scoffing plenty of hay but he wasn't. I thought it was because Caspar was keeping him away and protecting it all, but I fetched them in this morning and there must still be grass with some feed value. Green droppings and well covered horses, all on a couple of feeds a day plus whatever grass there is.
