Hi, I know this isn't horse related, but was wondering if any other mums on here have any good tips/advise. My boy is 4 weeks old and suffeering from really bad trapped wind. I have changed his bottles to Dr Brown, and his formula to aptamil colic and constipation, he has gavisgon (due to reflux issues) and gripe water, tried baby massage. Any tips would be great? Also when did ur child sleep through the night? And when did you put them in their own room?

Mine are grown up now but best advice I was given was to lie baby down flat on his back for a few minutes after he is fed then bring him upright fairly quickly the air is supposed to form a bubble at the top of the stomach then be expelled upwards when you lift them. Mine slept through from about 6-8 weeks from midnight to 7 was a long time after that they slept 12 hours though. They are all different though my youngest was a very good but wakeful baby and although he was in bed and quiet from 12-7 at an early age he didnt actually sleep all night until he had his first day at school at nearly 5 years old. He was a very content child and didnt cry very much. The middle one slept 20 out of 24 hours from 6 weeks until he was two but was slow to walk and talk as he was always asleep you had to wake him to feed him The eldest was sleeping through from about 6 weeks too and was pretty much a routine baby fed every 4 hours slept in between and was quite easy too I guess sleeping through is largely based on how calm everything is and if they are big enough all mine were huge babies over nine pounds at birth

Keep up with Dr Browns. I found a good way to get wind up is to lean baby over your knee and rub his back. Ive read these tub baths (looks like a bucket) are really good for wind bu never used one.
My lo is nearly 9 months hes still up at night sometimes twice. He is in his own room now and has been for about 6 weeks. My partner pushed more for this, if i had got my way he would still be in with us!

Mine had reflux. Be careful if putting them flat too quickly if you are dealing with reflux. We had to prop our little ones crib up with books at one end to give her some relief from the reflux. She only grew out of that once I started weening her at 6months. The reflux really was awful until we cracked the gaviscon and propped up cot routine. I remember sobbing with her one night as she would sleep easily on me but as soon as I placed her flat she would scream and scream. I actually heard her burp and reflux and it was like a light bulb moment. Dr was very helpful and we were soon sorted again.
Swear by Dr browns.
As for sleeping through, my little one did 11-6 at about 12 Weeks which I was delighted with, she would go down about 630 or 7, wake for the 10 or 11 feed then go through. But its so personal... I think she was weaning before she did 12 hrs. I had her in a crib by my bedside until she out grew it at 4 1/2 months when I moved her into get own room.
Having said that I'm sure you, know the sids guide its to keep them in your room until 6 months so again its entirely personal.

Ohh just had another thought, as cookie says lying flat can make it worse. I had a easysleeper cleva positioner. Its a wedge type thing you can put in crib, pram etc and keeps baby at a slight angle - god send.

Baby no 1 slept through at 5 weeks. Baby no 2 slept through at nine months Babies 3 & 4 were twins nd slept through t aobut five months. Baby no 5 slept through at about a year.
I moved them into their own rooms at very approximately six months old.
Colicy pain is a nightmare - their father used to walk up and down with the babe in his arms - it was no 2 who was by far the worst. If it is daytime, consider wearing the babe in a sling or carrier strapped to your front.

Laid across knees on belly and rubbed her back, was really bad colicky every night at around 5.30pm for an hour or so and then again at 9/10pm, piles of Infacol but not sure that it made any difference to be honest, i think the on the belly slightly curved position helped more than anything. I breast fed so she never had bottles until i went back to work at 9mths.
Didn't really sleep thru the night until she was about 8yrs old but that's because she suffered from very bad night terrors from a very young age. Co-slept the majority of the time but then i'm on my own so didn't bother me although she wriggled like mad - LOL!

Moved mine into their own rooms when they were about 2. I'm not sure other people's opinions will be helpful to you on this point, you do what you want.
