In what way? Are you looking for recommendations of makes or deciding whether to put one in?
I have a mains energiser for my electric fencing. I like it, I don't have to lug batteries around or spend my time charging, obviously don't have to buy new batteries. The energiser is in my tack room, my particular one needs to not get wet, not sure I'd that applies to all or not. I leave it switched on all of the time but I have a switch on the outside of my tack room to stop the connection to the fence. I also kept my battery energiser and a battery in case of power cuts.
I have a Rutland one, not had any problems at all, think its been in place now for a couple of years

I have a Gallagher one - IT IS FAN RUDDY TASTIC! it is a very powerful one and it does not fail. It even charges an internal battery so that should the power fail it will keep going for up to 48 hours.
it tells me if there are any shorts and I can isolate areas by remote control!! - so long as I have the thingy in my pocket. can't remember the model but can look If you have a large area to cover this is the the one to have.

I'm thinking about getting a mains energiser so would appreciate any cons people have discovered. Also recommendations for brand/tips for installation etc that you wish you had known!

I hate to think how much the system cost. It was already installed here. It is so powerful I have to special order double insulated lead out wire for new gateways!
