Mum needs some new ones any recommendations, mum is 69 now and doesn't need to get wet but still rides out at least 3 times a day atm. As she is schooling babies and working Pointers she will ride in all weathers so need to get her something good and comfortable. Recommendations please. Thank you.

I am obsessed with being warm and dry so having tried pretty much all options these are my recommendations 1- equetech winter breeches. These are new this year and my faves as they have a full seat and are slightly warmer than number 2 and cheaper. I wore them this weekend in the pouring rain for hours and legs were warm and dry. They do have a bit of a tacky huge brand thing on the back of the waistband but it's always covered by jumper/jacket anyway. 2 - pikeur lugana winter breeches. I like these as they are full seat and warm/waterproof but more expensive than the alternatives 3 - caldene winter breeches. I think these are the warmest but they literally feel like you are wearing a wetsuit and make a wetsuit noise when you walk. Also they are not full seat just knee patches so I don't ride in them.

S+R - are the equetech ones normal cotton on the outer + fleecy inner?
I want some like I've described, not like the musto snuggy ones i tried on that felt like i was wearing a nappy!

Tally Ho do waterproof breeches that are fleece lined. RRP is £99...........Under £35 on Ebay......I haven't got any as I am a fair weather rider but my friend swears by them and wouldn't be without them for hunting

I got some requisite (robinsons own brand) waterproof over trousers and they're great. Not as stylish as waterproof jods but at £28 I'm not complaining! They're also handy for dog walking and as a wwarm extra layer in cold weather

I bought at least 6 if not longer years ago from Aldi over trousers waterproof and everything proof, for about £10.00 and still using been through the past winters which have been horrendous and these were fabulous and warm. Well can you beet that! I bet not. I wear them over normal jods and boots never a problem. They were prob snow gear but just the job. forget your expensive equine names stuff these work. So look out for aldi and Lidl stuff it is just brill

Its just what she's done all her life but now on a lesser scale. I think she's just made of tough stuff as a lot of her generation were. I am not sure they could do what they do with out the help of the wonderful Andrew (I hope neither he nor anyone who would tell him what I said come here ) but he keeps his horses there and does a lot of the mucking out and also a lot of keeping the xc course up to scratch. she doesn't compete much now only the team chase and the odd hunter trial if a grand child wants a lead. She Also just finished reading Montys Auto Biography and recommends it to every one. She took me to a demo at Addington about 12 years ago now. I think I am lucky in that her way have always been much inline with IH, well I guess my grand fathers ways too.
