Yup I've got one too! it's so mild at the moment that he's sweating in his full furry outfit. He had a little bib clip but he's struggling to do any work at all, he gets so sweaty and uncomforable and I just don't know what to do with him. More hair coming off at the weekend, there's just no other way he can stay in work.

Me x 3! Blaze is like a yak and Jas and Marygold are nicely fluffy. I have coated their legs in pig oil and sulphur - wonderful stuff!! - as we have loads of mud Roll on Summer ;D

I was surprised at just how fluffy Talin was when I clipped him, I didn't expect to end up with such a big ledge on the clip line ;D I'm going to have to tidy it up this weekend but fear I might have left it so long that I might have to redo the lot as it's already growing back. I might also be tempted to turn it into a trace.

I usually have to clip at the end of september (if i want to keep riding through the autumn/winter months) and have our second clip mid/late december as he grows it all back within 8 weeks or so..but i'm out of sinc with it all this year.
The climate has been pretty mild these past few weeks for the coat he's put up and he's been far too warm with what he's grown, (and drinking more water than he usually does because of it),..so for health and happiness purposes,..needs must!

Talin is much happier since I clipped him, even though it's only a modified apron type clip, it means he's not roasting and so has more get up and go, plus has less washing and brushing sweat off which he's really not a fan of.

Did have but one dodgy clip, due to clippers not being up to the job, and she is less so now. I did a high trace clip on her last year when she was living out and she was still very warm, and it really wasn't fair to ride her unclipped as she just sweated up so much. On dry days she would happily go naked during the day! She's now stabled over night and I've taken all her body off as she was getting so hot, she was radiating heat again tonight though!

It warmer and drier out there tonight than it was for most of the summer! I was watching Lucas steaming in the field today where he'd rolled in a muddy patch and got damp. It was a beautiful afternoon and he was hot!

Me! I think they look best in their winter woolies, especially the Exmoor. They've been sweating in the field this week though cos it's been 12 and 13 degrees. Feel so sorry for the rugged natives round my way!!

My chestnut Shetland, Boyo is like a ginger yak! The King of the Field was trying to bite him yesterday, but couldn't find his way through all the lagging! HaHa!
