Long way to go yet though but I have made the first steps, it's only taken 4 years for me to feel quite so good!
My Rosie has been out of work for a few months after being let down so much by people who either wanted to ride her or instructors I was paying to help, 1 of which still owes me money!
Anyway a man my mum works with has offered to help me and so far so good, I was quite worried because he is very old school but actually he's really good. He's training Rosie to go completely by voice to help me and in 2 short lessons he's got her walking nicely and even got me leading her confidently and today he lunged her and hopped on for a little walk around just to judge what shes like, she had a few mishaps which he worked through and got her over then I said I wanted to sit on not move but just sit.
So OH gave me a leg up and I sat there no stirrups on my brand new saddle I've been desperate to try out.
She was perfect standing has always been a problem with her and she stood for 10 mins while I calmed myself and then jumped off.
When he first jumped on he told me to stay as far back as possible so if anything happened I won't be in her way and it won't knock my confidence so I did when he was ready to walk with me leading he told me to use my voice which I did and she listened, normally at this point I would completely keep my distance but not today I walked next to her and she was brilliant!
I always wanted a horse I could leave for a week or 2 then hop on and enjoy it and I think I finally have that horse!
Now I need to buy a new back protector cos mine no longer fits me and he is very cautious and won't let me ride without one :-)
I'm one happy happy girl today!
He also told me that I will be taking her to my first show and Rosie's 2nd show next year and although we probably won't do well I will have the confidence to do it and enjoy it and will want to work at getting in the top 3.
Sorry pointless post but I'm just so happy I could scream it out lol :-)
