Monday 2nd July was the night I said goodbye to my beautiful Muzzy, I arrived at 4.15pm to see to you and as normal you were waiting for me by the gate, I spoke to you said I'll see you in a minute after I'd seen to Domino who was in due to an attack of lami. At 4.45pm I went to get you in, only to find you down in the gateway, unable to get up, you struggled up and came with me into the yard where it was obvious you were seriously ill, I did what I could until the vet arrived but unfortunately at 6pm you were pts with a twisted gut due to (vets opinion) a fatty lipoma. Goodbye my sweet boy, for 11yrs you were part of my life and taught me so much. Saying goodbye was so painful but you are now at peace. R.I.P. my beautiful muzzy. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate you thoughts and well wishes. I am now realising how much I have to be grateful for:
1. I was grateful that I was actually there when it happened, 2. I was grateful that it hadn't happened in the morning and he would have died alone and in agony in the field. 3. I was grateful that it didn't happen the next day when I would have been at work and my daughter would have had the trauma to deal with 4. I am grateful for every single day I managed to be part of his life. and lastly 5. I am grateful that the vet said he would not survive surgery so he was pts very carefully and with great dignity.
As I never let any of my animals go I have to be prepared for THAT DAY, and do what ever is the best for them, it is still very raw but he is now at peace.
RIP my beautiful boy.

I have only just seen this post - so sorry for Muzzy I hope you can pick up the pieces now with the help of your daughter and your other animals. You have a special vet, too.
