Haven't been able to ride all week due to rain and working but yesterday had a lesson. She was very inattentive and rushing everywhere and at one point a small explosion but we coped and eventually she settled and put in some good work.
Today hack. Haven't been out for ages properly on her as she went for three weeks schooling and in the two weeks she has been back - I went away for 4 days and the weather has not been kind at all! But she was sold as the sort that didn't need regular work to stay sane.........
I was a bit anxious after yesterday but though 'come on brain you can overcome this' and tried all my seatbone dropping, breathing etc. Well she was awful - coming out of the yard huge spoork sidewya, then freaked out with two men cutting a tree - so much so I got off and lead her past. We then went into the field - first time again in ages as they have only just been opened and we had 2-3 epsiodes of all 4 legs off the ground - one when I was leading her after I got off again! I was with friends but she got worked up when she was near their horses, felt absolutely rigid at times and i now know how people can resort to gadgets to get heads down as it would constantly come up, she hollowed her back and scooted forward - I;m afraid I shouted at her to stop messing about but it was in my fear.
Prior to getting on she was chewing at the fence as I tacked her up and has been quite uptight. It might be she's in season (trrouble is only had her less than a year so can't read this yet), it might be the grass as its just got warm and started growing - don't know. She did this last year in the later summer when she changed fields to lusher grass but its just so frightening for me.
Back to the school I think. Doesn't help that we are waiting for our 'new western saddle to arrive (she went schooling to start western training). I do feel more secure in that as her saddle, although comfortable is quite flat and no knee rolls - even OH said he felt insecure on it when he rode her once. I though we were getting on so well - last sunday even said I would be happy to hack her out alone which is a total fear of mine.
