Does anyone use one and can you tell me anything about them good or bad? I used to have a Griffin cob years ago and sold it as I wanted a leather saddle. I'm now using a Blackcountry show hunter style saddle, but want to go back to a synthetic, as my mare is 17, and has changed shape anyway, and varies a lot from summer to winter. Am thinking a synthetic would be lighter for her. Or can anyone recommend a synthetic in the same sort of price range. She is a fell x, pretty round, with no withers!

I have a T4 cob thorowgood and think its fantastic. Fits beautifully my flat backed low withered mare and was really good value. It's pretty light and is very easy to look after. If you wanted something with a bit of leather on it you can go for the T6

I've got one for my section D. I've had it for about a month and I'm having the saddler out again next week to check/alter it or do whatever she has to do with it to make it fit properly!! It slips regardless of what I put underneath, I feel tipped forward in it and when i put it on her yesterday she actually turned her head with her ears back :0(

Thanks zacksmum, I've tried severla saddlecloths too. I have an old thorowgood conform one thats got like a rubbery lining, but its that old it doesnt seem to work. Cant find any online and thorowgood not answering my queries! Have just bought a N.E.W intranet pad, thought it was quite cheap. My mum reckons I've been ripped off as you can buy same stuff in £1 shop, like mesh that you put under ornaments etc. I've used it anyway and it did absolutely nothing!

I've got one for my short backed, big shouldered, appie x ardennes. He is going well in it and I find it fine to ride in. (When he went to Hartsop, Ian said his saddle was the only one that fitted out of the four youngsters in to be started - not that that is really relevant but I thought I'd add it anyway!) It has the changeable gullets but I would only change these on the advice of my saddle fitter.

Yeah they all have the changeable gullet now. Where are you as my saddler seems to specialise in them and is worth a ring. She used to work for them I think

That's a shame. She covers most of the south east

I don't have the cob one, I have the normal one and I find it fine to ride in and my mare seems to go well in it!

I had one for a while, the older version has fish, the newer version has changeable gullets as well. I liked it, just not as much as my leather saddle so it was sold as soon as fatso slimmed back into her usual saddle.

Similar but i find better quality are the new GFS Genesis synthetic range, bought one as a second saddle for my mare as i can't ride in daughters jumping saddle, the GFS is adjustable, has lovely wide flat panels and fits a treat, very comfy to ride in as well, i think i paid under £300 for it new, cant remember exactly as i part ex'd another saddle in for it.
