Just received a little second hand saddle from Ebay with two nasty creases across the seat down towards the twist. Now, for me, this indicates possible damage to the tree. The seller has no returns on their listing, but surely that's not a saddle in 'good condition, no damage' etc. I've let them know it's coming back, leaving me out of pocket for at least 50euro. God, have I learned my lesson...

I've traded saddles on ebay although not recently. At that time, the ebay system regarded saddles as an item which carried a high risk of complaint/dissatisfaction by the purchaser to the extent that, if the transaction was conducted via paypal, the payment funds were not released to the seller until the purchaser had time to check the condition of the item. So if you used paypal you may have a chance of a refund.

As I have said before, buying saddles 'blind' on ebay will always involve risk - you have to accept that one person's interpretation of condition will not necessarily match another's. The best way to add a bit of protection is to open an in-depth question and answer dialogue before the listing closes and get as many extra photos as possible.

I got one from ebay described as being in "good condition" and it really wasn't, there were the suspicious creases in seat as well as too much flex in the tree. The seller refused to take it back so I did a dispute through paypal and the "good condition" was enough to get me a refund as the broken tree meant it wasn't in good condition and wasn't useable. I didn't get postage back but better than nothing. Good luck with getting a refund!
