If you're thinking of rescuing one and aren't quite sure, just have a look at poppyandbea's thread, 'Bea Update'. She's just added pics of the wonderful Poppy, who is a lovely example of the breed.
We always used to buy two or three from Chagford Sales years ago - tended to go for the dark bay/dark brown/blacks as they were more 'typey' - and without exception they went on to make super childrens' ponies and/or driving ponies.
Poppy is a great example - what a sweetie!

if they were above 14,2 id be in there like a short, but im just too tall for anything smaller, lovely thread though

Yes her little bea is a star and since working with the dartmoors I have never failed to be stunned by their wonderful temperaments, affectionate, hardy and healthy, bombproof and responsive. With the right training, and preferably a copy of Sarah W "no fear, no force" you will end up the pony ( or 5 lol) of a lifetime!!

how big are they then' I have a 13hh pony leg at each corner but feel too big for her' I weigh just over 9 stone' and am 5' 5''
