I was reading a thread on another forum about weather people believed in ghosts or not. and it got me thinking about the time i saw my mare
I lost my clydesdale mare and her foal (within a few moths of each other) a few years ago and it must have been several week afterwards i was walking through the barn tending to my mums pony and out the cornor of my eye i caught a glimpse of my mare standing in the door way looking straight at me. Spinning round there was actually nothing there but as i contined on i heard her big heavy feet stomping round the barn and the occasional snort (there were no other horses or people on the yard at the time and i'd no her big flipper feet anywhere) i was enjoying hearing her again so decided to keep on with what i was doing. my mums pony suddenly threw her head up and let out one heck of a whinney, so i quickly lifted my head in the direction she was looking and for just a split second i saw my clydesdale mare and her foal nuzzling. They then dissapeared into thin air.
Do you think it was mabe a sign that they were ok and had met each other once more? I like to think so anyway.
Has anyone else ever experienced something like this with a past horse or pet?

Many years ago my beloved cat died at the age of 16. He was the first pet I'd owned, and the first I'd lost. For about a year afterwards I'd occasionally catch a glimpse of him out of the corner of my eye. He was a brown Burmese and it would always be in a darkish place, like on the stairs, that I'd see him. He always liked to sit on a brown carpet or brown chair when alive, as if to blend in.

I have seen, out of the corner of my eye, my friend's dog, crossing her dining room. The dog died many years ago. And I have 'sensed' my mare, Erin (Jas's mum) on occasion. I am a definite believer xx.

I too lost my old cat at 16... Even now 10 years on, I have seen him in this flat... He died before I moved to my previous flat yet saw him there often too.... obviously he's come with me

I haven't experienced this as such -- but would draw great comfort from an experience like Steff's

My last dog came back to let us know he was fine after he died - I felt him laid on my bed next to me, and saw him too. It was a great comfort.

I havent but when I was younger my riding instructor told me the story of one of his horses that died. It was the middle of the night and he heard a horse walking through the yard and all the other horses were going mental so he went out and saw his horse walking towards his field so he walked over to try and catch him but when he got round the corner he had gone so walked to his stable and the door was shut and his horse had sadly died in his stable. It shook him up and he thought at first he was seeing things then he realised it was a sign his horse had gone to his last resting place out in the field. The weird part was he wouldn't let any horse out in that field for quite a while after and used to go down their daily and he swore he saw hoof marks all round the field which were fresh ones.

I once saw a grey horse in one of the stables as I walked past and assumed it was a new livery but when I spoke to the yard manager and asked about it was told there was no new horse. When I went out to check the stable was empty. Very bizarre as I don't really believe in that sort of thing at all. I also once saw a child in a friend's flat dressed in Victorian clothes just out of the corner of my eye. Perhaps I should have gone to specsavers?

Not only seeing but hearing. For the first three days particularly after an animal or human passes, the energies can be very strong around their home. You might find the curtains move where a dog or cat used to lie. I even know dogs and cats that walk round the old deceased one when it's lying on the floor. I once met someone who told me "You'll think I'm mad. I could swear I heard her [recently deceased JRT] bark in the kitchen." I didn't think her mad at all, of course.
Just think of it as if they are still in the same place they've always been, but in a different dimension, which means that most of us can't see them, but they can see us clearly. When they are in our thoughts, we draw them back to this place and sometimes we get a glimpse of them or feel them there, if we're lucky.

When i was 4 i was convinced i saw my uncles neopolitan bull mastiff - im sure it was my imagination tho, dog had bitten me in the face and i was terriffied of her, even though i knew she had been pts!! For ages after our dog passed on i swaer the living room & kitchen doors used to open just wide enough for him to nip through, it stopped doing it after we scattered his ashes - everyone thinks im batty

Woke up in the middle of the night once and was convinced I saw our German Shepherd sat beside the bed looking at us - he had died 12 months previously!
Also opened the kitchen door in our holiday let once and jumped out of my skin as a brown and white dog ran past my feet - only to disappear as it went into the dining room!!! We do often have unusual "happenings" around the farm house - nothing that ever feels unpleasant though!

Just for balance, can I say that I've never seen a ghost and don't believe such things exist? If you do, though, that's fine - whatever floats yer boat! Please don't have a go at me, anyone

I saw my old dog the day after she was put down - walked into the kitchen and there she was, looking at me, wagging her tail. I know she'd come back to say good-bye (she was in the vets for 3 days before she was pts, and never had a chance to come home to bid her farewells to everyone). So although I was with her at the end, I know that she'd come back to say good-bye, and to let us know she was happy and pain-free. My aged cat has just been pts, at exactly the right time, with time to say good-bye, and we haven't seen her at all. But maybe that's because she was happy that she'd said her farewells before she went. I am absolutely sure that ghosts exist (having also seen human ones) - your experience sound very special.
