Ok so we are trying this at the moment, a LR nue schule with lozenge.
We re happy with the way my boy is going in it but I have a couple of daft questions having not used one before.
The one we have on trial has 70mm rings, these look large on his face and IMHO look a bit ugly, they sit over his nose band which isn't ideal. If I was to get the 55mm rings does that affect the action? Is there anything I need to consider with smaller rings?
Should I use those rubber bit guards? There wouldn't be room for them on the one we are using, I'd need to go a size up and then I'm worried it'd be too big. It does say on the blurb about it that the lozenge must sit centrally.
Thank you, trial is almost up and I wish to buy this mouth piece but the size / fit of the rings in still a niggle...

I always try to get the 55mm rings I think they are much more flattering even on larger horses. I don't think the action is changed. I quite like the bit on sustainable dressage about bit guards... www.sustainabledressage.net/tack/bridle.php#fadsIf you are worried about pinching maybe consider a sprenger type 2 or the barns by.
