Madison has just finshed up 6 weeks box rest after having her stifles operated on to stop them locking (hopefully! So far so good)
Now vet said she is allow to go straight back out in the field 24/7 after the 6 weeks, into a small paddock (she has a small paddock slightly smaller than a school), but now i have a 4yr old who is feeling so much better and climbing the walls.. have started to bring her out of her box in hand.. to graze and walk.. and we can't go more than 2 steps without exploding in a fit of rearing and bucking (witch reared up this afternoon, boxing and smacked my hand! hurts like hell! lol), i've also got her a small stable size pen outside her stable now which she goes into whilst i quickly muck her out, she can't run around in it but is still managing to rear/buck/bronco on the spot! Before returning to eating grass.
I just know when she goes out she is going to go mental! lol I've got sedalin.. and i may well give her some tomorrow and she'll have some when she is turned out, but after spending a lot of money fixing this girl and it really is our last hope as she was in so much pain she could barely walk.. i'm terrfied that when i do turn her out, she is going to go mental and is going to injury herself and undo everything we've done. Obviously i can't contact my vet until they open and she is likely to be going out on tuesday or else i'd ring my vet and ask her.. as she is currently in my back garden in the shed as i had no stable.. i have to take her back to the field when the person with the trailer is free.. and not working.
And any other ways to maybe keep her calm when she is turned out?? There is grass in her paddock as its been rested for the past 6 weeks (but hopefully not enough to cause lammi/colic) so hopefully that will be more tempting that looneying around and I have a equine friend lined up for her.. but the mare is fizzy and if maddi run's around, Piper may well join in (only pony i could think of putting in with her who isn't likely to beat her up.. or insist to play! lol Again Piper may well be far more interested in the better grass!!) and she'll had had sedalin and i'll also put hay out as well...
Really worried about turning her out.... but i know i have to! lol
