I have had one of the best weekends with my horse for a long, long time. I never thought I would be enjoying riding again as much as I have this weekend.
Saturday morning I had a lesson with my fab instructor, she has worked with me all the way, VERY slowly, did some walk, did alot of trotting and then she asked me to do canter, off the lunge and I did it. Winnie, my 7 year old hairy cob, looked after me all the way although a little confused as to what I wanted from her, but we did it - yippee.
Then on Sunday I was taking the plunge, taking Winnie in the horse wagon somewhere new with two other horses (they had been before) and a few people on foot, she was as good as gold and I can't explain how relaxed we both were. We were out for a good couple of hours, walking steadily along all the bridlepaths (which goes through a golf course, so the golfers have to stop - what a shame!!!!), arrived back at the wagon, boxed up brought home, PERFECT.
It's amazing what good friends and alot of support can do for your confidence, and baby steps.
I'm still BUZZING, hence this post ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

WELL DONE Mouse68. That's one giant step for you both. It just goes to show that it pays off to take things slowly and progress at your own pace. Hope you have a lot more 'steady' times ahead to enjoy with Winnie

Brilliant, well done you and Winnie! I used to have a Winnie too, years ago - she was a hairy cob too, and an absolute darling.
