INTRODUCTION TO ENDURANCE
The South East Group are organising an"Introduction to Endurance" seminar on Saturday 3rd February 2007 from 10.00am to be held at The Chertsey Hall, Chertsey, Surrey (5 mins. from M25 J11). Focused primarily at any riders who may already have ridden at sponsored rides, pleasure rides or endurance training rides, who would like to gain a greater understanding of what Endurance riding is all about. We will be covering: How to enter a ride, what paperwork you will receive and what to do when you get to a ride. Understanding how your horse’s digestive system works and applying it to Endurance. Basic principles of reading a map, understanding types of roads, paths etc. Advice on how to keep yourself fit and types of exercises to aid your riding. How to prepare your horse for more than just a hack and understand what speed you are riding at. Gain a basic understanding of your horse’s feet and the importance of them for successful riding. An understanding of the vet check at a ride and what the vet expects to see. There will also be some Endurance-related exhibitors as well - so bring your cheque book! Open to all, whether members or not. Attendees are guaranteed to go home with a clearer understanding of Endurance riding. Tickets will be £5 in advance or £6 on the day.
