Owned my horse 2 years (bought for daughter to ride, she got fed up, i fell in love) had many lessons - did well then after a near miss with a car ourt hacking my confidence went. thanks to fab yardmates go thacking out again and today - first time in my life (im 44) I cantered!!!!!! My yardmate found me the perfect spot - an uphill treelined track, she went in front with her horse ready to stop if i panicked. Was really not looking forward to it but was determined to do it - so we did!!!! Didnt go far - maybe 10 paces but point is i didnt back out - my horse went like a dream and now i know the feel of canter!!! OMG how powerful is my boy!!!! Ok i had rubbish seat - well no seat, was bouncing about a fair bit lol but i stayed on and kept my stirrups - most important he stopped when i asked!!! Cant wait for next time when i will hopefully be more relaxed and ready and just go with it - go for further. Im just so so happy. Me!!! The biggest wuss in the world cantered!!!! Was the most amazing feeling - his pure strength!!!
I have the best horse in the world - jus tlove him more and more each day lol xxxx

Fantastic, really please for you, I also love the fact you have the best horse in the world, though I think I have as well but hey I've been wrong before. I'm already looking forward to hearing about next time, your enthusiasm is infectious.

lol ty lady - i was watching showjumping yesterday and that spurred me on - i really want to jump but know i have to master canter first!!! Ive done so so much schooling - dressage moves and tbh it bores me - if i never see a school again it will be too soon ! For now anyway - ive had 2 years of round and round lessons and me and my boy needed some fun - now we are having it!!! I aim to do cross country next year lol xxxx

WOOOOOOOOOOOO well done!!!! Can I add Jos to the list and make me have one of the 4 best horses, as he has allowed me to enjoy cantering and galloping too! It's a great feeling being able to let rip on your horse and have a blast round the countyside - here's to many more fab canters for you!!

I think it's one of the things I like about this forum, horses are all different some ridden some not, some with really capable riders others are like me, rubbish, but so often I read about the love and care people have for their 'best horse in the world' that it makes me proper soppy!!!!!!!!!. I love reading about everyones pride in their achievments.

oh ty kanga - we have now progressed even further. I am now quite happily cantering in wide open flat fields (started on uphill single well lined tracks) - my seat is perfect (according to my yardmate who takes us out and is also a pt instructor) - she (and others at my yard) have done wonders for us, really really looked after us both.
