Have started working my wonderful but nervous 5yr old girl on the ground ala Kelly Marks and would love to go on an IH or other natural horsemanship course either with her. Can't find anything - event or course - in Scotland. Can anyone let me know if I'm missing something or has NH not hit the Scots?

Hi j7. There are a few of us who are interested in IH up here, but many more that dont seem to have either heard of it! Not sure about courses, but I know of somebody who had done them who lives nearby. Will ask her to pm you about it, Im sure she will know of anything happening. Good luck!

I would like to know too please. I work with IH methods and I have been on a course but I'm moving to Scotland next month and cant find anything. Maybe if we all say roughly where we are we could try to get something organised - if there were a few of us perhaps we could ship in an RA from England! Any RA's in England intersted? ??

Hi j7, Snuggyjods and Kath. Unfortunately IH don't seem to do any courses north of England. I have been on a number of IH courses, but I had to go down south to do them. To add to the frustration there doesn't seem to be an RA in Scotland anymore. I think I should get my finger out and work on working towards the second stage of the course!
There are sometimes Equine Touch courses in Scotland, I haven't done any but I have seen it done and its amazing.

areader - yes i think you should too - do the second course i mean!
For several years I have considered going to do the IH courses with hopes of becoming an RA. As a riding instructor already I had a good understanding of 'traditional' methods'. However I was at uni at the time studying animal behaviour and with RA's in both Lincs and Yorks (where I've lived) it didnt seem worth doing from a career viewpoint. Oh how I'm kicking myself now!
I might still look into it again for my own interest, it seems quite a logical move to build on previous studies and personal interst . Perhaps a rather pointless post - just me thinking aloud!

We did have an RA in Scotland but she gave up the title last year and now does the same thing under her own steam. She is based in Glasgow.

Hello, another from Scotland here (recently moved). I'm in Aberdeenshire. I used to have a wonderful McTimoney chiro who also did equine touch on my horse - am I right in thinking that the Ruddocks are based not far south of Aberdeen, or did I get that wrong. I'd love to do the ET courses if possible....just got rather a lot on ATM!
By the way, hi Alice and Pauline - have pm'd you!
Lisa

You said IH or NH - if you look at the Silversand website, Steve Halfpenny goes to Scotland every year. Look under Clinics and UK. And if you look under the team, Shuna Shaw is an associate and teaches, helps with problem and young horses etc in different parts of Scotland. www.silversand.com.au

I'm in Scotland next week at Glen Tanar Equestrian Centre Aboyne, Aberdeenshire. Unfortunately It is not a public event . I will be running through some things with the owner and staff, and working with a young horse that has some 'issues'! There is a possibility that I will be invited up again at a later date, and maybe do something more open, so will keep you posted.

Hello everyone. Garry, if you think you will be back in Aberdeenshire again, I wondered if you would have time to come to the yard my 2 horses are at and give a one to one lesson. The yard is very private and it has a round pen. I have done a number of IH courses including the Foundation course, but I am lacking confidence putting the methods into practice.
Hi Lisa, hope your move to Aberdeenshire went ok and you have settled in in this windy weather! I will send you an email.
Alice.
