It was too flippin hot for intelligent questions!!! I would have liked to see some diagrams or a model of a foot to help those unfamiliar with structure..... As for 'promotion' he didn't have stuff there to sell agreed, but my point is he spent time telling us about what we could buy from his website when I wanted to hear more about the other stuff! And the raffle slips will go back with him so that they can take the contact details from them. Pip your point is interesting I understand your decision, but KC's point is that he's not promoting any one trimming method (I know, he has his own) but his EP's are more concerned with sharing info with their clients and helping them to be more knowledgeable. So I would like to know if your chosen one also does that. I am happy to do the trim myself, knowing I have the EP to guide advise & inform.

I wonder if this discussion might be better under another part of the DG, but yes my trimmer does discuss and explain things and is available at any time for support.
As a customer and being completely new I was surprised to find that there are "two schools" - I thought everyone would work together under one UK Equine Trimmers association, because there surely can't be much difference in the finished product and what everyone is trying to achieve.

May as well stick in my two-penneth for what its worth. At present Pebbles (my neddie) is barefoot behind and shod in front. As pip and others have said i was really looking for a bit of a 'push' if you like to go fully barefoot-and to be honest i didnt really get the 'push' i needed. I found the first half interesting (background etc) but he then went straight on to the 'science' bit which tbh was all a bit confusing and self-congratulatory (if thats a word lol) for my liking. The diagrams didnt make any sense to me (and i have read a lot on barefoot horses) so i would have liked a model or some sort of clear picture to help! Going totally barefoot is something i do want to do long term with Pebbles,i have done for ages but i didnt come away from kc's talk wanting to whip her shoes off and get an ep out lol!! I didnt feel inspired which is what i wanted from the talk (and obviously the english cynic in me kicked in when he started flogging his stuff but thats another story lol) I do appreciate him coming to talk to us though and giving his time for free, and it was interesting, i would just have liked to come away wanting to know more, but i just feel baffled tbh. Wanted to say a quick thanks to Rj and June for organising. Ta Angella xx

Having just counted up all the pennies, I'd like to announce that we had 46 paying customers through the door (£137.80 so someone diddled us out of 20p lol). Our outgoings were £25 for the hire of the hall, plus £22.84 for 4 bottles of wine, 3 cartons of juice and 1 bottle of sparkly water (aren't Asda great?!). So as a result - I'm rich, £90 better off, thanks folks............. just off to pm EMW to find best way to donate it!

hi pip, i think this thread is in the right place as it is discussing the demo talk by kc and the merits of it to the ones who attended or have been to previous ones.
the general chat of fors against for bf are also attached to this as the whole point kc set out to do was enlighten. for some he did and some he didnt.
i know he didnt encompass the feedback as we would have liked and i feel that is sad. he has his reasons i know but i personally do not agree with his ideas on that.
pebblesgirl, you are very luvky because you work each day in a yard of very high percentage of bf horses, you also have the opportunity to speak to june who is very knowledgable on the subject and now even more so after attending the course. i think you have to consider why would you and then are you preparred to put in the work required to get the result. that was what kc was trying to explain in his very indepth and often over our heads method.
i think of it this way, if i plant plants in the garden and start with poor soil and do little to help my plants they very likely wont grow if they do they will not be strong as they could be, if i start with good soil then i need to do less to support them . but who much i get out will depend on the soil and conditions and the type of plant i want to grow and how good a result i want to get at the end of the day is all depending on all of that. that is a basic explanation of his assess a foot on his spectrum of useability.
so all, domnt be put off because he didnt explain in the best way for us, use the opportunity to find out more and i bet a lot of what he said will then fit into place and be understood better.
i still would prefer he tempers his talk to more middle of the road of attendees then to the higher levels.
no rj i cant type with my feet, work would certainly object! firefly..are you saying i talk a lot and may i say, words like, glass-house-stones-throw!!!! heehee
