I rode 2 horses, jumped one of them, so chuffed with myself, but, I haven't lost confidence on all horses, just nancy... but, my confidence is growing with her EVERY day, and so is our relationship!! What has made me so happy is a did some CT in the school. All very low key as I don't really know what I am doing and didn't want to confuse her, but, she was responding so well, back up, moving her quarters etc I put some poles out. She went over them with such enthusiasm (in other words when she saw them she popped herself into trot and floated over them) I decided to put a little jump up. I honestly thought she would run out but nope, popped right over it and put a whole load of effort in, repeated 4 times!!!! ;D. She was really enjoying herself, and she has got a really big powerful jump.
The good thing about all this is as we were approaching the jump she was trotting off in front of me (her strides are longer than mine and I didn't have any lead rope on her ) and she was voluntarily going over the fence!! . It didn't cross her mind to run out (and she had every opportunity as I was on the outside of the school, behind her). She is such a good girl, willing and really enjoying herself. She is such a willing little mare and keen to please (sometimes ), and very smart, I can't wait for her education to continue and the CT to expand into our ridden work. She is like a different horse to what she was last year. She seems alive and very interested in everything and keen to learn. It just goes to show how a horse with physical problems can be so difficult and how willing they are when they are well. And of course, me reading and understanding her better and listening to her, and not pushing her!!!
I will add she gets bored very quickly so I am going to have to think of some more 'tricks' to play with her on the ground ;D.
May not be a big deal to some people but to me this is a huge step forward in our relationship given what we have been through
