My horses live out, and after all this deep snow, and freezing night times I thought I'd make them a treat to cheer them up. So I lovingly boiled up a swede, added in some apples, porridge oats to thicken and a gloop of honey for extra yummyness and poured into two buckets still nice and warm. Joyfully I struggled through the latest snow storm, and slid up the icy hill thinking of their happy faces and warm tummies. The boys came cantering over and stuck their heads in their buckets. "Spluurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!" their offended eyes met mine. "Yuck" said their disgusted faces, "we may be on the verge of death by cold and starvation, but we SPURN your poisonous evil mash". I am only saved from deep hurt by the fact that the labradors thought it was delicious...

lol, ungrateful swines!! They just have no appreciation for our efforts!! I've been taking a flask of hot water with me each morning so I can turn my horse's brekkie into warm soup. I saw him wee in the snow at the weekend and his wee is really yellow so now his brekkie is so sloppy he drools it all over the floor and smacks his lips in it sounding rather like a piglet!! I have to make sure I'm well out of the way or I end up wearing most of it

Funny isnt it, Regal turned his nose up at his tea when I put warm water in it, they are such fussy little creatures of habit arent they.

How daft is this, I took my container home to fill up so I didn't have to bother unfreezing the yard tap and OH filled it up from the shower with hot water!!

We thought we'd give "Lofty" a treat. Warm Soup! She usually gets a mix of beet, cool mix, minerals so we added a goodly dose of lovely warm water. In went the nose, blew bubbles and then squirted it in my ear! Sometimes I think I let them watch too much telly.

Today I've carried hot water to the yard in a plastic bottle and given Ari hot breakfast and tea. He was so pleased. Slurped the soup until his bowl was empty and then licked the bowl clean. Must say he's a very noisy eater!

Being of the very native variety, mine are very suspicious of anything that doesn't look, smell or taste like normal and they will persistently ignore profferings of gorgeous warm slops in favour of weeds sticking out the top of the snow............
