I got to go to see the boys again last night, AND actually do something useful!
With OH's help I mucked out both stables, and did hay and feeds. I even managed to sweep the yard.....sort of! I can't do water buckets, empty the wheelbarrow or carry the haynets from the barn to the stables, and I can't bring the horses in either....but balancing between one crutch, and a yard tool, and using my very best Yoga balance skills I managed to muck out standing on one leg.
I felt like a different person by the time I was done. It made such a difference that I'm going to get a taxi to the yard this afternoon, do what I can, then OH will call in on his way home from work and finish off the bit I can't do, and bring me home.
The boys are doing well, they're obviously not being told off enough though! Rhythm is a little star and I don't think he's putting a hoof out of line, but Snip is definitely a bit on the bolshy/fresh side! Snip is the type who needs telling every time he does something even a little bit wrong or bad mannered otherwise he sees his opportunity and the behaviour deteriorates into plain naughtyness!
Last night my totally non horsey OH caught them both and brought them in from the field....Rhythm behaved, but Snip jumped out of the field over and imaginary itch, then ran in circles around OH and Rhythm, them legged it...I told OH to let Snip go (he never goes far and he's perfectly capable of getting himself to his stable - which he did) whilst all this was happening Rhythm just stayed at OH's shoulder like a good boy.
Snip's just a bit more highly strung than Rhythm, and like I say, without regular reprimand and boundaries, he does get a bit wild!
