A slightly offbeat subject, I'll admit, but here goes... I once came across a photo of a Clydesdale stallion on a German website a couple of years back, and immediately I fell in love with this stunning beast: In fact, so much so, that he's the live "model" for the horse in the novel I'm working on...! So, does anyone else claim to be a fan of a horse which is NOT their own??

I am a fan of my YO's exmoor pony - she is just fab, and I always cheer her on when we're out competing.

yes.. I always wanted Pepsi a friends horse to do well in the competitions his new owner took him too.. My friend only jumped him in the smaller classes (not the teeny jumps the 2' - 2'6 classes) he loved jumping.. but then she sold him to a good friend who took him to the bigger classes..and eventually to ODE in which he excelled despite being a MW cob.... they got laughed at....then he'd wipe the silly grins off thier faces when he beat these "sport" horses hands down...lol

I knew the lady who bought the horse used in free running sequencies when filming finished. They had 3 black beauties depending what they were doing hence the changes of bit you sometiimes saw between shots. He was called Jet, and when she got him he still had his black beauty make-up on! My neighbour helped exercise him and I even went out for a hack with him once on my pony. He stayed with her until he died at a ripe old age. I'm a fan of Knockrath Spring on facebook. I came across him in person (so to speak) a few years ago and it's nice to keep up with what he's doing.

The mighty Arkle for me. I was a horse-mad horseless child when we first got a TV set, and I quickly discovered the racing on a Saturday afternoon for a horsey 'fix'. And Arkle was just coming into his prime - I really truly loved that wonderful horse, and the mighty Pat Taaffe who rode him. Started me off on a lifelong passion for National Hunt racing.... and I still well up when I see that black and white footage of Cheltenham in the sixties, Peter O'Sullivan calling Arkle home in the Gold Cup, poor Mill House left struggling in his wake - stirring stuff.
