Cassidy is due a visit from the vet and the dentist tomorrow to remove a tooth - I don't have a stable for him and he isn't good at staying indoors in any case. Given that sedation will slow his circulation what do you think? I will speak to the vet first thing and see what they say - the job needs doing but isn't a matter of life or death.

We'd consider a warm rug but the vet's the best to ask. Good luck.

We had one sedated last week when it was really cold and he was fine. It made him sweat a little, which is one of the side effects in some horses, but he was back out in his HW Rambo after he came round and was perfectly happy.

I must admit it would worry me & I'd postpone it until the weather's a bit better.

Jasmine had a tooth problem last week and I was dreading the possibility of sedation as they can get so sweaty and It's difficult to dry them off in this cold weather. Fortunately she didn't need it. My friend has postponed her WB's rasping session with sedation until the weather warms up. I would say postpone unless absolutely necessary.

i think he will be fine as long as you can get a breathable rug on him, he will soon warm up,

He has been done - is in the snow covered manege, wearing two rugs and Sabrias leg warmers. He should be coming to any time now - I stayed with him for an hour while there was a risk of him going down, but he will be fine. THanks all for your thoughts.
