this no poo way of washing your hair always intrigues me - Has anyone with very fine thin hair tried this? I get verrrry greasy by the 2nd day of not washing hair........ i have 10 days off over xmas is it worth trying this? I work in a shop so can't go into work with chip pan hair!

Go for it - mine is very very fine, almost like baby hair, and is so much better for it. The more you shampoo the more your scalp produces excess sebum to compensate so within a few days you should start to notice a difference. You can cleanse every day with conditioner if you want to, just use a very lightweight one while it is adjusting.

I expect the other supermarkets do a bog standard cheap conditioner. On the original no poo thread there was a list of what to look out for in conditioners. Im on my phone so cant search for it properly but if you put no poo in search over last 6 months in nh chat you should be able to find it :-)

Sorry I have just found this topic, glanced at the link and am intrigued. I don't have frizzy hair, just naturally wavy, but it gets very dry and dull at times. Also I have noticed that the longer I leave it between washing the longer it seems able to go without being washed, if that makes sense. Basically, is the idea to ditch shampoos and anything with SLS or silicones and to wash with conditioner instead? Is it necessary to use something to get rid of residues first? What conditioners are recommended and where can I get them from? Just spent a fotune on Tresomme products and am mortified to see they contain SLS as the second ingredient!

I would return them asap Sundace! I do currently use shampoo but have been off SLS and parabens for over a year now.
Am gonna give the just wash with conditioner thing ago though.

I only do a Bicar and vinegar rinse once a month now if that .. and i do the bicarb paste first ... rinse, then the vinegar soak (the ends more than anything else) then rinse (and rinse well) ... Then i do a conditioning wash .... !! I smell of apples

Soz Sundance ... missed your thread out somehow lol !! I don`t use shampoo at all, and i "wash" using a cheapy Morrisons own brand conditioner (think its about 60p) Look at photo higher up Basically i just wash/massage my scalp with the conditioner, leave for a bit and rinse out .... sometimes i`ll do it twice .. but not very often .. and once a month or so i`ll use a some Bicarb made into a bit of a paste, just to do my scalp with and rinse, then do the conditioning wash

Sounds like a challenge for a New Year's resolution then! I did read an article by someone who just stopped washing her hair without the conditioner thing and, although initially it looked greasy, after a while it didn't get any worse and eneded up looking much better. But I would want to at least rinse the dust and smell of horse out of it! I believe the folk who have dreadlocks use some herbs and oils. I must ask my son! And I'm off to Morrision's for their conditioner.
