If you dont find it, go to your local chemist, and buy a tube of Brolene. For mild irritations in human eyes. Does a grand job for the osses too. If its more persistant and you need the vet, then they will probably offer you Optimune, its £50 for a tiny tube, but it works really well. The brolene usually works in 90% of mild cases of runny eyes though. Hope this helps.

The YO's mare always has mucky eyes and they use baby wet wipes daily to clear them off. To me, they are merely wiping away the symptom and not addressing why she has this problem but there is no way I am going to offer advice as its a case of always been this way, as with the summer itching where she turns herself inside out to relieve it!

i cant find it either sorry Bob has got stringy eye boggies again. Seem to appear in the winter, and fine in summer when has fly mask on. Its not a horrid colour or odour, and doesnt bug him, i think it might be down to the wind irritating. Did think maybe hay, but he wasnt being fed any last winter when out as there was so much grass where we were before

My mare gets eye bogeys and a fab, easy solution that helps her is cleaning with full fat milk, apparently the bacteria in the milk kills the bacteria in the eye. Has to be full fat though. Hope it helps x

I've used Liz Earle Eyebright. Great for human eyes and seemed to work on Bailey's although none of the Liz Earle stuff is tested on animals. A natural smell (Bailey has to sniff everything) and it seemed to keep the flies off too.

I used Golden Eye ointment and Optrex infected eyes and neither of them cleared it up after two tubes so while I was at the vets I had them checked out. Vet gave me Tiacil as it is better and stronger. One week later his eyes were very sore indeed, one was ulcered. So then the vet gave me Maxitrol which calmed things down and got the ulcer and gunk under control. Take my advice and dont use Tiacil!
