really enjoyed it especially the ridden demo which really made me think and made a lot of sense. Only problem is that i want that chestnut Arab mare really badly :-)

Me too enjoyed the ridden bit very much, I wasn't too impressed with the groundwork, but that's just my personal problem!
The ridden work reminded me a lot of Mark Rashid's ideas, so I liked that.
Thank you so much KAS for arranging it, I am pleased I finally saw what Steve is about. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

I'm pleased that you enjoyed it and/or found it interesting I expect that people won't necessarily agree with everything 100%, it would be a strange world if we did. It is also true that there is normally more than one way to approach a problem. It made me smile that Othello, the one who doesn't pick up back legs, turned out to be pretty easy to help. You almost needed to see how bad he is normally to appreciate the change - but that could have resulted in injuries to whoever demo'd that bit! The chesnut Arab mare is my friend Lin's horse Namara. They can show some very lovely stuff in the relative privacy of a clinic, but I think Lin was a bit overwhelmed by being in the demo - I think she did brilliantly. Um - just thinking about this and wanted to add - Lin has the ridden stuff because she's done the groundwork. In this approch the two things are inseparable. How the theory is applied will vary from horse to horse and also with the handler, but Namara is so responsive ridden because of what she has learnt with Lin on the ground. And I have to say, you didn't see the best they can do, if you want to see that you probably need to visit again in September when Lin is pootling about at the clinic doing her own thing ;D

You almost needed to see how bad he is normally to appreciate the change - but that could have resulted in injuries to whoever demo'd that bit! It had certainly caused injuries last week! Othello is my husband's horse, and it was so nice to see the change in him while Steve worked with him. It wasn't something that just worked because Steve is a big tall strong chap, either, my OH and I have both done Othello's back feet since he came home and he is sooo much better it's wonderful. ;D

Hi Louise, sorry I didn't get a chance to say Hi at the Demo - I'm guessing that Othello was one of the guys you got the SS grass nuts from me for? He's gorgeous, and so glad the course helped him.

If shes not pregnant KAS put me on the list!!! Perhaps it would be a good re-introduction to work when I bring her back into work.. kind of, this is the way we are going to do it now!!
I REALLY REALLY want Perdy to understand about stopping like Namara!! She can be so perfect listens to me on a loose rein, we turn for home and we argue about the speed we go to get there.. shes positive they'll have been an uprising in the field during her absence!! She powers out to the field so everyone knows shes back!! (Poor b*g%ers!)
