That is truly amazing, what a happy ending. Well done Caroline and thank you Gordo for posting the link and bringing it to our attention.
It is like the starfish story isn't it? We can't help all the horses that need help but my god, we made a difference for Atos!!! ;D

It is like the starfish story isn't it? We can't help all the horses that need help but my god, we made a difference for Atos!!! ;D That's how I look on it I think it's the only mindset to have in rescue. I hear so much dark and horrid stuff and there are days when I admit it feels a bit much to cope with. The irony I have always seen in rescue is that the people that care enough to do it are those most hurt by what they encounter. Now, I try and put out of my mind the stories I can't do much about (normally overseas) and just do what I can for the animals I think I can help. I don't give in, I just can't. It's not about trying to be a good person etc or wanting approval from anyone - I just came to the planet with a mission, have always known it and don't feel right in life unless I am doing it. It's kind of hard-wired into me. But no matter what I do or how hard I try, it never feels enough and there is a constant hunger to do more and guilt that I am not doing enough. I suspect a lot of rescue people here feel similarly.
