This is a very early heads-up that I will be hosting a Centered Riding Instructor's training course in England in March/April 2011.
For those of you who may not of heard of Centered Riding:
It was created and founded by a wonderful lady called Sally Swift, and two books have been published (Centered Riding and Centered Riding 2 - Further Exploration) which explain many of the techniques that are used to create a balanced, harmonious rider.
These books have been translated into 18 different languages, and there are Centered Riding Instructors literally worldwide, including Australia, Japan, Uruguay, all over Europe, The USA, and here in the UK. Currently there are 800 Centered Riding instructors. (Centered Riding is also for sale in the Spanish Riding School's bookshop in Vienna - the only book of its kind on the bookshelves).
Sally is no longer with us, but she was inaugurated into the USA's Hall of Fame shortly before her death, an accolade awarded to very, very few people, and a great recognition.
Those of us who have trained to become CR instructors (Jennyb and myself are just two of 22 CR instructors in the UK) have become part of the most incredibly supportive and enthusiastic network. We now have friends all over the world and so many opportunities have opened up for us that would never have happened without Centered Riding.
I am now keen to expand our English network especially now I have access to superb facilities including a brand new indoor school.
The cost of training is about £600 for the course (7 days residential split into two separate courses). We are looking for people who are competent riders, ie happy at riding at all three paces and capable of doing basic lateral work (leg-yielding, shoulder-in etc). We also need people who have some teaching experience - not necessarily riding instruction. Even if you already have a BHS qualification (as does Jenny) Centered Riding would be a terrific advantage.
We would be particularly keen to have instructors who are based in the following areas:
Midlands
Yorkshire
Cumbria
Lancashire
Cornwall
Devon, Dorset
Home Counties/London
Berkshire
Essex
If anyone would like to know more about what's involved then please either pm me, or email me at lisapritchard@themodernhorse.co.uk with your phone number and we can have a chat.
