My name is Masha and I’m a lucky guardian (don’t like the word owner) to a lovely 7 year old chestnut gelding called Summer Boy, whose pet name is Sunny, which really suits his appearance and personality. He’s got a lively temperament and friendly personality (both with humans and other horses)
I’ve known him since he was 2,5 years old and had him since he was 5, that’s when he was started and ever since we’ve been enjoying our rides in the fields and woods (in the hills of the Southern Italy where we live) enjoying ourselves and learning something new every time. His mum is Arabian and his father is a Quarter horse, yet I ride him English style, with an English saddle, cause that’s what I’ve been used to since starting at the age of 11 (I’m 28 now) and this way I feel more contact with a horse.
I’m using a mixture of Monty’s/IH methods and principles with Sunny together with common sense and general approach of trying to understand how he feels and how we can achieve something together. He is a generally very willing and I think he enjoys being out and about in the countryside, sometimes I feel he almost reads my mind and it’s a lovely feeling.
I’m a keen IH member and follower of Monty’s methods, I’m using his online university and have been to a demo in the UK this February, and I am really hoping to do some Kelly’s courses one day. I really admire Monty and Kelly for what they are doing for the horses and riders alike.
P.S. If there’s anyone from Italy out there on the board drop me a line, unfortunately Monty’s methods are not nearly as widespread here as in the UK yet
xx Masha

Hi Lorraine! It was really nice to hear from you and i think it’s cool that we have horses with the same name and the same colour. I’ll be looking at other forum threads to learn more about your Sunny :-) And please don’t overestimate Italy, at least when it comes to climate. You won’t believe the amount of rain we’d had these past two winters. To be honest, I think both Italy and the UK are nice places to live in (I grew up in Saint Petersburg in Russia, which was lovely, but too hectic for me) if you concentrate on the positive aspects! An don’t worry, of course, I’m planning to get more active with posting about my adventures with Sunny and sharing pics of my lovely horse! Masha xx Attachments:
