Mum and I went to our boxing day meet today. Its been thawed here for 3 days or so, we are lucky as I know a lot of meets elsewhere are cancelled. Everywhere was rather wet though!!
The ponies were fidgety so none of the pics are amazing! As the pictures will show though, its very crowded in the square.
We set off from the square and went off towards Shuttlesfield farm. On a narrow bridleway track they stopped to collect the cap, and I was next to a loopy chestnut that kept reversing into meg and I, he almost got kicked. We have all been on frustrating horses so I tried to be nice, but the man didnt apologise - he found it amusing. Grr grr. After Shuttlesfield Farm we headed over towards some steep hills that are above the A20 and newington and peene. I HATE hills, and these are some very steep ones.
I almost turned back, but Mum persuaded me to keep going, and actually, it was ok! I am glad I did, because afterwards we had some fab gallops and a few jumps.
we got absolutely drenched, so we turned for home when the hunt was within half hour of our house, at about 2pm.
Peg was a bit tired by the end. Although also, shes been doing this season just shod in front, for the first time, and this definitely had some very stony tracks, and we hacked there on a lot of roads, so maybe she was just feeling her feet a bit by the end as well. Meg in all her barefootness was absolutely fine, and jogged allllll the way home.
Pics
Up at the Kennels first before we hacked en masse down to the square in Elham,
How crowded the square was
Meg and Peg both looking a bit tense about the whole business
peglet watching something
Meg saying I dont DO standing still
apparently I have a tasty glove
A view from above Elham
some of the field
left to right, my Dad, Lou, my brothers wife, and my brother
Huntsman and hounds
What I looked like when I got home!!
