It finally snowed in Bristol ;D Unfortunately not enough to make decent footing for riding, so I just chased my ponies about with a camera instead. Kai clocked me as soon as I arrived at the field and said he'd like to come in for a nap please I said no, I wanted to take pictures and had the audacity to walk past him He was not amused... "Hello" says he, "I'm here and would like to come in now!" "No Kai, let's go see Dolly"..."Fine! But then I want to go in..." "Hello Dolly!" "What are you up to?" "Eating!" "Wanna come in?" "Nope." So brought Kai in for a nap and some hay and a feed, then a few hours later brought Dolly in for half an hour for the same although she was very keen to go out and play in the snow again - she's such a proper Native ;D

oo, snowy poonies! LOL at little Kai, the wuss. ;D What rug is that you've got for Dolly? I remember you said she's a similar shape to my Saffy didn't you? I'm still thinking I really should have a spare for her at some point.... Looks like you've had the same amount of snow down there as we've got up here. Enough to be annoying but not enough to ride out on easily! We'll sort out our ride yet though, eh? Actually; I was wondering if Dolly's saddle might be worth trying on Saff, if you do make it up here.

They're about 10 minutes from Cribbs Causeway - in the first two Dolly photos you can see the motorway behind her. Dolly's loving the snow - she came in for half an hour to munch on a haynet and to have a small bucket feed but as soon as the headcollar came off again in the field she took off at canter to see her friends. Kai's such a pansy - he'd happily live in 24/7 if I let him. Luckily I'm bigger than him so he lives by my rules Dolly's in a Kingshead no fill at the moment - her Amigo lightweight has more thickness to it but she doesn't need it yet as is still toasty. We have about half an inch of snow at the yard on top of a layer of ice which is most irksome - ok in the field but anywhere else it's just too slippy to do anything fun. I can bring Dolly's saddle up when I come and give it a go

LOL, I bet Kai would end up approximately spherical; happily standing indoors stuffing his pretty little face all day if he didn't have such a mean mum who makes him go out in the field and get actual exercise and everything. ;D I've not heard of kingshead rugs. My two are also just out in rainsheets - more to keep them clean enough to do things with, than because they really need them. I really do like having ponies clean enough to ride at this time of year! You'll be pleased to hear that I did actually manage to get out and about on Staro this morning. I've been salting the lane for the last few days (there are buckets of the stuff there, but it's up to residents to spread it) and this morning I actually managed to join up all the areas I've been doing so there's a clear half-mile or so track to get down and back up. So we should be good for a ride at some point over the holidays.

These are the Kingshead rugs: www.kingshead-saddlery.co.uk/turnout-rugs/index.htm although I got this one for about £20 from www.horserugs4u.com. It's on its third winter having been washed and reproofed once and she's always bone dry under it How about Saturday for a ride, Nic? Thanks Portia! I was trying to get posey ones of them and although Dolly's obliged in a few, Kai really hasn't lol!

oh cool; i'll check them out. £20 sounds a bit more like it! Saturday is forecast rain for here. Though they seem to change it every time I look! They're saying it's supposed to be foggy here at the moment, which it was when I went out earlier this morning, but it's actually quite sunny now. We've got sunshine forecast for tomorrow and thursday, too. But, we could see what it's actually like on Saturday, if you like.
