Oh dear. But lets face it there are plenty of pads that claim to do that now aren't there?

I used to know a lady who did a lot of judging Best Turned Out - she would always mark down anyone with a numnah of any sort, saying the only reason to use a nunmah is if the saddle doesn't fit. Not strictly true IMO - jumpers use them to encourage a horse to bascule, and I personally use a saddle cloth because it is easier to clean than the underside of the saddle. But she had a point.

looks like a lovely pad till you read the 'adjust an ill fitting saddle' DOH!! thats what a saddler is for, not a numnah!!

The thickness of this numnah will help adjust an ill-fitting saddle.
i dont think so!!

Ouch! Saying that I have used a thicker numnah myself when a horse has lost weight in winter before; wasn't worth altering the saddle cos they put weight on pretty sharpish again. It is a bad message to send that a numnah is a cure all for an ill fitting saddle though, especially if the saddle is too narrow to start with

I think there is a place for correctional numnahs - within reason. They are great where you have a horse that is asymetrical or the horse has some muscle atrophy where by putting in soft padding you can allow the muscle to develop rather than jamming it against a hard flocked saddle. I particularly like the ones where they have pockets for shims to be inserted. In an ideal world every horse would have decent, well fitting, soft flocked saddle, however, where there are temporary problems better to fit slightly too wide and then pad up.
