But ultimately it is none of your, or my, or anybody elses business is it Rifruffian?
Well done all who have had a hand in giving this little horse a second chance

Zoe, everything connected with the horse just recently has been public business.

I try to steer away from threads which have gone the way this one has.
But I can't believe that anyone would want to take away the fact that this is a lovely horse which has been saved.
Whether people agree or disagree about everything which has happened prior to that point, as horse lovers surely we must all be relieved that Woody didn't take a one way trip to Potters?

I am amazed at the way this thread has gone. Di, thanks for your comments. I'm just so pleased for all concerned that the outcome is so positive. I can't waste energy on people who are determined to put a negative slant on everything! Thanks for the Woody updates - keep them coming!

Yes, but sadly there is 'always a better way' for some looking on from the outside! Woody is very handsome and I again wish him the best (contentment and safety) for the future whatever that may be...

It was a token sum, Rifruffian, but it is absolutley NONE of your business as the others have said!! I also cannot believe the negativity that we have received over saving this horse, but thanks so much to those of you who feel, as I still do, that I did the right thing!

Zoe, everything connected with the horse just recently has been public business. … and four ten pence shares, means there is the basis of a legal contract and everyone is clear about who owns what. It isn't the purchase, that needs an exchange of cash, it's so that everyone knows how much say they have in what happens to Woody and how much is their responsibility. I would have said it was very unwise not to pay for Woody - I'm glad someone had the sense to. I was given a horse that I had backed free for someone, a few months later, the former owner decided she had 'burdened me with too much responsibility' and wanted to give him to her neice instead! If I'd have bought him for 50p, I could have hung on to him.

Well done Heather and everyone involved in giving this horse a second chance. I wouldn't have been able to ignore his screams for help, either. So often horses keep quiet and never say a word about the pain they are in. IMO Woody couldn't be in a better place to get a chance at a new start in life. Good luck to Dan (not that he needs it) and all who have the opportunity to contribute to Woody's rehabilitaion. xx

Ok so who owns which leg I think money should always change hands for a horse no matter what, one thing to ensure the person buying is serious, and I believe it is less than they would have got at Potters, not that it needs defending in any way. Thanks for the update HadsonHorses - you really have to do a blog! He had such a presence about him in the pen, and not just because of the bucking, well before all that started!

Heather of course you and all concerned to achieve this result have done well.
On a general note, it seems to me that internet readers often perceive negativity when it either doesn't exist or arises from some unique defensive interpretation.

As said above, very sensible to buy Woody. There can be no doubt then about ownership then. All the very best of luck with him, he is a lucky boy.

Evening all! I have started a Woody folder so I can keep all the info I get about him together and I am obviously writing up all my treatment notes, and we are keeping a video diary of his progress as well, and of course I will update everyone on here. I personally feel that Woody is a very special horse, such a gent and a pleasure to be around. I think if he knew how famous he is getting he would be tickled pink! He will be no doubt penning his autobiography some time in the future....... I really hope that we will have as much success as you and Butch had Heather, I agree totally that fate had a hand in this....it was the first time I have ever been to see Monty 'live' and I knew the second Woody walked in the door I wanted him. It was all meant to be I think. I am trying to trace as much info about Woody's past as I can to try and piece together what has happened to him to make mine and Dan's jobs easier when we are working with him, so if you - or anyone else for that matter - have any info that might help us, that would be fantastic. You can email me at handsonhorses@yahoo.co.uk - thank you xx I am not sure exactly why you are suprised money changed hands rifruffian, but personally I feel like it was probably the best money I have ever spent! All 3 of us own equal shares and all decisions about Woody's future will be made equally between us, with his best interests in mind. I will keep everyone posted, and hopefully in time Woody will be as happy being ridden as he currently is when he isn't being ridden! Katharine x
