I have been blessed in my life to own probably the two most friendliest most willing horses in the world, both beautiful, amazingly kind and would do anything to please - both were flighty, fast, wouldn't tolerate bully tactics, sensitive and pretty much nutters to ride........ and both are enjoying the grass at Rainbow Bridge - Jade has joined Auburn
I learned today that Jade my first ever horse, all those years ago, died from a sever case of colic on 26 March 2009. She and I shared about 3 years together - her owner (a young teenage girl - Jade was a present from her Dad(!)) was lovely but was scared of riding Jade and had some nasty falls so I rode her instead!! She was great fun - she would carry herself in complete self carriage and I was too young to appreciate it, a beautiful small dark bay TB who live out 24/7 and never lost weight!! She would go anywhere possible at great speed - looking beautiful whilst doing it!!
As soon as I started driving and didn't have to rely on my parents to get me to the yard I took Jade on loan which lasted for about a year until her owner moved and took her and her sisters horse with her (well her mums) to pretty much live in their garden, I tried to keep Jade on loan but the mum was going through a divorce and things were messy so she just wanted them at home for her daughter (who never again rode either of them)
Over the years I lost touch but found out that both horses were taken by Redwings on a retirement basis. I emailed Redwings recently and heard today that Jade has died - I havent seen Jade for about 9/10 years - she would have been coming up to her twenties. I feel so shattered, I really wanted to go and see her, silly huh.......
I hope she has made good friends with Auburn, they were alike in so many ways - both brought colour into my life, and weirdly Jade left the world the day before I was remembering 3 years of Auburn leaving......
I have a photo somewhere - why didnt i take more??
Rest in peace Jade - you have left me with some amazing memories, I will never forget them, or you. Thank you for teaching me all I love about horses and instilling my love of TBs
I love you: sleep tight
