i wonder if we could do it a bit like a relay race, or baton thing where by we start darn sarf, and end up in scotland, id be willing to host the event from my yard for lancs, maybe get it on the pennine way to a certain point where somewhere at the top of lancs can take over the challenge upto cumbria, and then cumbria to scotland, i may know someone in scotland who might want to take up the challage, forgive me if ive got the wrong idea, but if someone people were to ride to lancs they could rest there horses, here before returning home in transport, our lancs group could set off from here and go further north so on and so forth, sounds a good idea to me,

Cathy- sounds like a fab idea if you don't mind coming to my yard (I don't have a box and Hanni didn't load well when I moved last time)? I guess once we get to the destination of the other people we ride back the same way? Definately think the hoodie or t-shirt idea is great! Would be good marketing for IH too! Also if people can get pics that would be fab as you could make a massive album of the whole event!

thanks 3pinkmonkeys we are putting ALL ideas into the melting pot, nothing is set in stone ,and we will look at the logisitics of each idea to see which most effective / feasible. / riase the most money / be most fun ;D the relay idea could be an element of "difference" as a event and unite people in connecting physically ....... maybe one in each area /county ..... might take to long to do the length of the country in a two day event ( even for the long distance racers ).... but if anyone wanted to do it over a longer period and culminate in handing over the baton to the start of the weekend at lands end or john o groats .................... feel free to volunteer ;D ;D ;D, it would be considered

from the little i know the pennine way looks likely to a go area for quite a few folk, and if posters were available to print off we could past them out to all the bigger equestrian centres, a pic of each baton holder and there group could be taken for a calender maybe, why not go large and get papers and tv involved, lol

i maybe could ask Joni bentley i don't know if she still rides, can ask Mary townley daughter, cosi townley, there plenty of show jumpers oop north, Richard Barton, is he still in the go? lol the smiths and are the Whitaker's still in this neck of the woods ive lost track, susan mc baine, is in lancs, not that i know her,Sarah dent is opp here too, who else do we know of i don't think it would go a miss to make program makers aware of what it going on maybe some eloquent soul could take that on as a project operation TVs, not just for coverage but as a reality tv thing, Alan titchmarsh had the settle wi on his program why not us, lol

equi adds, bingo, appeal in there for riders to take part, and if someone can set up an e-mail system of riders taking part, how much would be charged for taking part or is it just a sponsor thing, i personally would prefer to pay what £15 £20 is there was a t-shirt involved, that go round looking for people to sponsor me, or we could contact the horse kit manufacturers and feed companies for sponsors in connection with ihk,

thats not a bad idea julz, to have some kind of marshal on a bike , we need stopping off places, if it was looked at as buiness, maybe people would pput horses and folks up for free, if they thought they were getting coverage,

looking at the kind of range we are talking about over two days .......... say 8am to 5pm ( not sure on the daylight hours im May would need to check if we go with the relay / baton ? 9 hours at 5 miles per hour average ( trot some of the way but walks also especially in traffic ) I know some can go faster ) = 45 miles per day..... that 90 miles over the weekend. is that too far to do a circular route round a county . or top to bottom . .......or east to west ? maybe RDA centre to RDA centre ...... or from a members yard to members yard ....... or combing with any local events happening where there will be more publicity ? so doon sooth to oop norf ..... mmmmm unless we change it to a motorbike sponsored ride Fiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn but if anyone decided they wanted to do it over a longer period I'd be up for a slow trek though Herefordshire with enough notice
