I cant find the thread so I have started a new one. I have found a conditioner that I think is okay to use, hence my looking for the thread. It is so easy for anyone to buy as it is Boots own brand. Boots Hair Expert conditioner for dandruff. Does anyone know if it is silicone free? I cant find anything in the list of ingredients that makes me think it may have some of the banned substances, but Im not sure. Anybody know? I have been on it for two weeks now and already my hair has cleaned itself up. After the first wash it was manky, I have been rinsing and conditioning it every three days at first but now is seems not to need it. At first it felt heavy and lank but now its silky and free moving. I have always had to use different dandruff shampoos or else after two days my scalp was really itchy and that has all stopped. My head is now not itchy and my hair feels and looks nice. Will my hair get progressively grotty or have I got there? Two weeks seems a bit too easy! Anyone else still doing it?

Good for you!! I have found that I can use pretty much any conditioner, but glad that you have found one that suits, and that you have got through the "manky " stage - Inever had one because my hair is dry and fine anyway. Mine goes from strength to strength - the hairdresser I found who also uses it likens it to the difference between a dry brittle leaf and one that has been kept moisturised - I compare it to hands with or without a dencent hand cream. I haven't shampood mine since the beginning of the year and would be very reluctant to now - it has condition and body it never had before.

Still at it but trying to find a cone free conditioner in the shops is frustrating! Been told of a good one on the thread sold by Asda and Tescos - not my flippin local ones but can buy it on line. Hang in there and do try the plunking as it does make those curls even lovelier but only with a microfibre towel - bought mine of ebay but Poundland sell them! www.wikihow.com/Follow-the-Curly-Girl-Method-for-Curly-Hair

Have a look at Boots Hair Expert range. They are in a white bottle, a bit plain packaging like smart price. Im quite certain they are silicone free, well I think I am!

I want to try this, just scared of taking that first step! Do any of you who do this swim regularly? Can't imagine not shampooing the chlorine away!

Doesn't tap water rinse out the chlorine? You would be surprised at how clean your hair feels even though you don't use shapmpoo - mine is squeaky even after just conditioner and rinsing well.

I agree with jill - mine goes squeaky clean after washing with conditioner. I think its all in the head sometimes! It has only taken me three weeks to be totally convinced.

i think conditioner will cleanse the hair, this is how my fuddled wee brain see;s it, you shampoo and it opens the hair follicles, it drys your scalp , the skin produces more oil, the open follicles probably catch more muck in anyway, where as just conditioner alone keeps them closed, and clean and a rise with water or a blast in the shower and conditioner on and ya hairs clean, ive never had long hair, it used to break and be really fizzy its down to mi bra, almost all one length and mad in a nice way curly sue way, lol

Would never use an anti-dandruff shampoo as they all seem to be too harsh and always leave my scalp feeling uncomfortable and hair greasy.
Why bother using a conditioner? If you leave your hair without washing at all it will self-clean. In the past the best hair for "false" hair was always obtained from a place (can't remember where at the moment) where women never washed or cut their hair.
Growing long hair has nothing to do with how you wash it. Hair naturally has a life of between 2 and 7 years depending on the person. It is genetic and unfortunately if you find it doesn't grow as long as you want it is probably because your hair automatically sheds after a shorter time than any friends you have with lovely long locks.

I wouldn't not wash my hair somehow - I had to speak to a member of staff at work years ago, she had a personal odour problem, and I always suspected her hair - it was grey and looked really dull and dirty. I would hate to think mine would smell.
