Our polo ponies get a heaped round scoop of Alfa A Lite, 2/3 of the recommended amount of Top Spec Balancer, teacup of micronised linseed, tablespoon of salt. They are out on reasonable grass 24/7 in summer. In winter they have ad lib hay when stabled. They are exercised 6 days a week. On the days they aren't playing polo they do about half an hour's exercise but virtually all of that will be in canter. On the days they play polo (3 times a week) the most they will do are two chukkas of 7 mins and sometimes an hour's lesson. The polo will obviously be canter or gallop. The lessons with be a mix of walk, trot and canter plus some standing around listening to the instructor.

My 24yr old stallion gets 24/7 grazing with access to a barn where hay is provided ad lib in winter - otherwise he gets 1 meal a day of Alpha A with oil and a couple of scoops of Pink Powder in summer - add to that sugar beet and micronized barley in winter. My 27yr old pony gets soggy sugar beet plus a handful of Alpha A with oil and pink powder all year round and 24/7 grazing (he has hardly any teeth so needs the extra fibre content of the beet all year) My 10 yr old mare and wee 5 yr old shetland get only a handful of Alpha lite with pink powder daily - they do not need extra despite being worked as they are both young and good doers - they have 24/7 turn out - but I always ensure they get Pink Powder daily.

Section D good doer, 15.2HH, 7 years old
Living out 24/7 on rough grazing with a good mixture of different types of grass/brambles/trees/bushes etc etc which she seems to pick at, doing very good giraffe impressions on some of the trees.
In the summer she'll have low grade hay fed as adlib as possible and a handful of pony nuts with a scoop of hi-fi lite and possibly sugar beet in the evenings to maintain her weight if necessary.
she's in very light work.

Bidi. 17 year old 14hh retired companion gypsy cob. Scoop of Hoofkind, slop of oil and Cortaflex in the morning. Out 24/7 in winter with ad lib hay and double the summer ration of chaff. Veg added to rations regularly.

Adapted track/rotational system of grazing - very limited - about 2 acres in total. Restricted to barn and hard standing daylight hours in the summer (to escape the flies) and hours of darkness in the winter (to escape the mud!).
Ad lib hay all year round (approx 20kg in winter and 10kg'ish in summer between them). 24/7 access to Himalayan salt block.
18 year old PBA about 15h - good doer - in VERY light work! 1lb dry weight of soaked sugar beet and a handful of dried grass split into two feeds. Double in winter.
18 year old TB about 16h - can drop weight easily now, had a hard life! - retired. 1lb dry weight of soaked sugar beet, 1lb dry weight of lucerne pellets, double handful of whole oats (soaked 12 hours then drained 12 hours), half ration of Top Spec comprehensive, gloop of oil and splash of cider vinegar, double handful of dried grass - split into two feeds. In winter will increase the oats (and possibly the alfalfa/lucerne) and add soya bean meal and linseed. Rugged in winter when wet.

we're getting fit for a 250 mile charity ride! so we're in medium/heavy work, 14.1hh lightweight cob. she's out at fairly restricted grass during the day so there's not too much in her tummy for the work we're doing, but gets a scoop anda half of pony nuts morning and evening, and a big haynet when shes in at night, and has access to a mineral lick at all times. simple, but she seems very happy with this and is in fab condition
