My favourite essential oil! Lavender - latin name Lavandula officinalis (from the Labiatae family). The plant in my garden is looking rubbish - no flowers yet - so here is a link to a picture of the flower: www.kemanahealing.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/Lavandula_officinalis_FC.347212439_std.jpgLavender oil is extracted using steam extraction from the flower of the plant. Lavender has strong antiseptic properties. It is recommended for a long list of conditions, both physical and emotional. A few of them are listed below. Physical: Abcess Acne Bites Blisters Bruises Burns Cuts Eczema Headache/Migraine Insomnia Psychological Conditions: Fear Hysteria Hyperactivity Impatience Insomnia Mood swings Relaxation There are no cautions associated with Lavender - it is one of the few oils that is safe to be used by babies and children.

Steam installation eh? That's a good one LOL Good picture. Do you know that although Lavender is generally a relaxing Oil if you use too much it can be stimulating. So if you are using it to help you sleep make sure you only use 1 or 2 drops! A drop of lavender on the finger rubbed on the brow and temple will ease away a headache, but too much will give you a headache.

Steam instillation - LOL!! Too much JD & coke. I have corrected it.
I did know that about lavender being a stimulant but had forgotten. Thanks!

I use lavender and tea tree mixed with water as a surface cleanser and air freshener.
