Hi all you Essex / Suffolk peeps - just thought I'd put a quick post on here for advice.
My OH has a new job based in Harlow, and we're now in the do we move or does he commute place. We don't particularly want to move, but if we could find something perfect, then why not?
If we were to move, we'd basically want exactly what we've got here - which is: fairly substantial 3 bed house, plus separate office, min 2 acres grazing, school, stables and hay barn. Not sure what budget would be, as we haven't had this place valued yet, but a guess would be around £600k. Would be after something rural, with access to good hacking, and within max 50 mins drive of Harlow.
Any ideas where we should be looking? And if we've got a hope in hell of finding anything?

Oooo theres a question! The surrounding areas of Harlow can be quite expensive. My parents live in Sible hedingham which is about an hour away, Guess thats too far! I'll have a look for you and see what i can find!

my advice if you dont have to dont do it!! we had our house valued last jan it was put on the market and has still not sold!! we have now lost just over £100,000 off the valuation price and no body is buying.its not just our house either, when we first put it on the market we looked around at what was for sale and those houses are either still for sale or have been pulled off?! the estate agent says it may take about 5 yrs to get back to where the housing market was!!!!!!!!!! and the values are going down by about 6% a month DONT DO IT!

The further south you go, the more expensive it is. Not the best time to move but I was talking to a friend who's in estate agency last night and she's noticed a big upturn in activity this past couple of weeks as people are deciding to just get on with it so maybe things will get better. There is a house near us that I think is under offer at £575k which has 6 acres, school, 4 beds, nice village near Great Yeldham. Not quite on Harlow's doorstep, would take just over an hour but the roads are really good, A120 directly onto M11 and of course the further out you go into the country, the pace of life is slower - suits me!

Ginny - where abouts, love my house and set up BUT 6 acres !! - see you later x
Ruth P - My husband drives from Haverhill (Suffolk Essex Boarder) into Canary Waft which he manages in an hour, although he goes go early 5.30 am and leaves office early so he misses most of the traffic, usually home by 5.30 Hope this helps !!

Yes - she was recommended to us when we moved here last year, as both myself and my daughter had just started RWYM lessons. My Daughter then help in the yard with Noni on Sunday mornings for a while, we've taken over the loan of Chico (little New forest) and I have been on a couple of courses with my Spotty boy.
Look forward to meeting you on Sunday.
