I had that problem with Boas. They rubbed every horse I tried them on.

I have to say that I find the Easyboot Grips just as easy to get on and off as the Renegades! I like the fact that I can fit a pad in them as well. I find they are both a pain on mud as they slip all over the place, but that the grips are no problem on roads although they aren't designed for this. At present we are using grips on front aand Renegades behind on the one horse who has very flat feet and no boots on the other one. Shoes are due back on in three weeks and we are trying out Epona shoes.

I've not really found that with either boot, I think a lot of it is down to the individual horse, same thing as goes for people's experiences going xc unshod for example, some horses are better than others.

I'm going to wait some specialist advice before I actually start using them. There's all the info you need about fitting them on the website - the only adjustment you can make is to the effective length of the velcro strap on the front, so you're risking very little just popping them on and getting on with things. They'll either obviously be a good fit or they won't. I hope they're a suitable colour!

Thanks Yann - just black sadly - Pie just won't do pink. That's interesting about fit - I may have a try then - I'd somehow got the idea if they weren't perfect they had to be sent back to the US to be altered which is a bit of a concern! Kx

I'm not sure what they could do with them if you did to be honest. Like I said if they slip on snugly and look right then they most probably will be and you won't have any problems with them Black? How dull

Actually Black is the new Pink.
On the IH DVD when you see Pie at War Horse you can see Monty made Pie some fancy non slip homemade boots out of leather and shiny black masking tape - like dress shoes - non slip for the stage and so sweet.

Thanks Tim. He's actually doing amazingly well shoeless at the moment - I'm so pleased with how he's managing. Oh no I think I'm going to turn into one of those barefoot fanatics now ... found this brilliant article the other day www.hoofrehab.com/HORP-060200-HOOF-50.pdf While 'normal' women are browsing diamonds at Christmas I'm browsing pebbles for the field - I'll definitely be one of those wonderfully eccentric old ladies given time - how marvellous!

Hi Kelly
The only real adjusting you can do is if you have a horse with long thin feet and then we've used an epoxy resin to make a cast of the inside of the shoe, bascially put the hoof in and squirt the stuff let set and take hoof out and hey presto perfectly fitting boot.
Jane Stevens (UKNHCP Certified Practitioner) in Devon has done this for one of her Arab Racehorses.
Ohter ways to adjust are the length of the wires, which if you buy longer you then alter where the back strap goes.
The only other adjustment I've seen is that the front fastening strap which is at the toe, has been removed and replaced with a leather strap and buckle, as I said before the velcro seems to wear out quite quickly and loses it's sticking ability. You can't alter the pastern strap this way though as it needs to be loose and very soft so as not to make the pastern sore.
Kelly, if you need any help with fitting send or post photo's to me, more than happy take a look.
JO
