Honest answer please i wont be offended
Just had my old job ring up to offer me my job back, had to say no as wasnt enough money but am thinking of asking them if could make up the money by having use of a couple of stables from which I could do schooling after work. would mean I could charge £50 week per horse.
Now 2 big if's. They will prob say no and 2 would anyone send there horse to be, it would be reschooling type thing. My strength is that im pretty good at getting on with the quirky horses. I my not be very good at flat and I cant jump but I can get on a difficlut horse.
What do you think before I ask them.
Miss my jumping pones big type

Hi Mags
Are there any rules, regulations or laws about your making money on somebody else's property?
What about turnout, how would that work? Would people sending their horse to you want it turned out with others?
Sorry, cant think of anything else at the moment
Good luck with whatever you chose

You could always ask the question. You don't know until you ask. What do you really want to do? Sounds like you want to go back ... but it's just financial.
There are loads of people who would send you horses to reschool if you advertised. I am always looking for riders for my horses!

Sarahg i would love to go back and would love to take horses to school. Im too much of a perfectionist and feel like i constantly seem to be trying to improve my riding so I can do that sort of thing rather than just do it

Check out the insurance implications Mags. The last thing you want is for something to go wrong and you be liable for a compensation claim. Alternatively make sure the owners of horses you work with, know that you work them at the owners risk, and that you are not insured (if you are insured then thats fine!). Could be on dodgy ground if you are charging for a service but don't have insurance.
Do check out the possibilities with the yard owner though.

Have you asked them to increase the salary? Will you have sufficient time to devote to the two extra horses, and do the work for the employer as well? (Take it it's the one with the nice indoor school?! ) Who will pay for bedding, hay, feed etc for the two horses? How much will that eat into the £50? Just thinking if it will be worth it, might be worth working out how much of the £50 will be left in your hand after you've paid for anything for the two horses, and ask employer if they will pay you that much extra? That's not even taking into account advertising, insurance, accountancy fees, etc for the "business" - as for that business you would be self employed and therefore would have to submit tax return etc. Sounds good on paper, but I think it would be better for you to negotiate an increase. You're surely on a good footing to do this if they have offered you your job back? They obviously like you and want you back! Write down your strengths and sell yourself to them!

Obviously I would have insurance ect.
Tried the wages increase and got 20 extra lol. May hay and straw was incuded as well as livery for Dan so id expect the same for another horse. The whole £50 would be mine as id expect the owner to pay hard feed and shoeing.

Oh right, well that sounds better! Worth asking if they have spare stables they aren't using, you never know.

if you are working on schooling horses I would def charge more than 50 quid and also make sure you are insured too
