I have to tell people about her breed because a few have thought she has cushings. That's really annoying because I have felt that people are put off her sometimes.
I posted a bit about her in the allergy thread. We love her because of her fantastic temperament. She is nearly four and is coming on really well. You can't really see her coat, but up close she's virtually orange in the sun and her hair flicks up all over. She doen't look very different to other horses on these pictures but she is quite different when you see her. She's lost a bit of weight since the full picture and is getting quite firm after some work.

Oh she is beautiful! What lovely kind eyes!!
How big is she??
Have you found a big difference in regards to your allergy compared to other breeds of horses?
Maybe one day my OH will be able to ride after all. lol

I am still allergic to her but don't care because I love her so much!! How sad am I? In about May she should moult all her winter coat within two weeks. Now that seems a bonus to me. A lot of her mane will come out as will her tail. A lot of curlies lose all their tail but I'm glad that she doesn't. We have only had her for 3 months and so am looking forward to the winter coat coming out and brushing her till she gleams. Their hair is very fine and soft and they are straight haired in summer. The curls catch air and keep them dry and warm. She is only rugged because we have had so much rain and we are expecting a good few days of heavy rain now.
A strange but true fact is that you can spin and weave curly horse hair. I may make a hat!!!!

That is seriously cute. I'd pay a fortune to get curls like that. She's lovely.

Lol! They were the first breed I looked at when I decided that allergy or no allergy I was going to keep a horse. But they were so hard to get!!!!! Fabulous animals though--I love the crinkly look

She's lovely, and so unusual. Does anyone else have a horse with a (not supposed to be) curly mine - although he's a KWPN, Lincoln always looks like I've just taken out plaits, but I haven't LOL!!!

So Curly you don't find any difference in how you react to other horses then?
I guess there isn't much in the hypo allergenic theory then

The breeder said that a lot of people who had gone up to see them had significant differences. I am so allergic to anything with fur that I wasn't surprised that I still reacted. My daughter who is allergic to horses and takes anti-histamine to ride is much less allergic to her. So I do think it makes a difference. That's why I'm looking forward to her moulting in spring because I think I will cope better. I don't come out in heatlumps from her like I do with other horses. I can touch her without gloves and groom her.
