my puppy toffee had her last jab last week so was out down the stables with me tuesday. shes been getting more and more confident each day, loves helping muck out etc., she's nearly 12 weeks. went out this morning and she decided to be brave and follow me to the field. i was leading zac she was following. she decided she wanted to come up front and ran under zac's legs, he caught her back foot she cried and cried and wouldnt put it down. luckily he doesnt have shoes on! rushed her to the vets just rung me back saying they think she has fractured it on her tibia/shin bone but its difficult to tell cos shes still growing so theyw ant the specialist to see her tomorrow and may have to pin it. poor girl is bandaged up and apparently keeps crying for cuddles i feel so guilty my poor little girl healing for her please so glad she's insured! its so quiet without her here!! toni xx

Oh no Lots of kisses, hope Toffee gets better soon Tilly stayed on the lead for ages round the horses, cos I knew she had no sense around them. She only had free run when she she knew here, sit, wait and would do them when told, and that was when she was nearly a year old. You can borrow Tilly if you need cuddles

Poor lickle munchkin, i've had 2 dogs with broken feet from my old horse. Nothing the dogs did wrong or the horse as they all loved each other and always shared food together. Me old lad used to watch where he was putting his feet to make sure he didn't step on them but accidents happen and occasionally they got trod on, both occasions it happened in the gateway, dogs and horse walking out to the field together, dogs stopped to let horse thru, he stopped to let dogs thru and all got messily tangled and trodden on *sigh* They recover very quick thou and it never put them off the horses althou current dog isn't allowed up yard as he chases the ponies !

Poor girl!
That's my worst nightmare. I'm constantly telling Xander, my 9mo golden retriever to get out from underneath the horses! They don't seem to mind, but if one spooked...... Doesn't bear thinking about!
Cuddles for both of you....!

thanks all for your kind words i went to see her earlier and took her blanket for her to sleep with. all the nurses love her and she is getting fussed over a lot. she is constantly whimpering and feeling very sad though she's on painkillers all night and has a huge bandage and vetwrap right up her back leg. can come home tomorrow, has to be kept in her cage for a few days and only walking round one room for a few weeks - yeah right!!! they reckon it will take max. 6 weeks to heal. its a spiral fracture but apparently puppies heal very quickly from them. she was not herself at all - very sad, wimpy, no kisses for me not the usual nutter eating my hair and slobbering my face its so quiet here, gonna be a long night im going to promote her cage to my bedroom as that where i spend most my time and she wont get frustrated by seeing everyone coming in/out the house she was meant to start puppy classes on monday but thats now out the window sigh i broke my puppy
