Danilon is another version of bute but much less harsh on the gut. Costs more too but you can buy it online cheaper.

Melissa, I live near Burford, in a triangle between Paris, Delhi and Scotland! Southern Ontario. Marianne, Yes, isn't Whistler just the greatest place? I was on a footpath in the woods one day and a black bear and her cub just ambled out of the bush infront of us....no camera of course. All my horses live out 24/7, the oldest is 17 and perhaps because she has absolutely 0 miles on the clock she isn't stiff or creaky, horses don't mind the snow at all, they are very canny and careful on the icy bits of their paddocks too. Did I mention snow keeps horses clean? Sorry, I digress. I know that devil's claw can be a useful anti-inflammatory for humans, can it be used for horses too?

Devil's claw is used widely over here for horses, but I found it made no difference at all for my creaky old beast. Glucosamine and MSN have worked better, but as I said are begining to lose potency. May look out for this dalion stuff!

zack - sorry just read your post! i see someone has explained about danilon. it has helped my boy greatly and as gordo said it is much kinder on the gut than bute. uge is only on half a sachet a day, which is nothing for a horse his size. i have to get mine from the vets though....i didnt know you could get them online! will have a nose....
lolamae - it looks wonderful out there!! and you saw a bear and cub, wow!!! how amazing.
