The thought of 24/7 turnout is foreign at our livery yard, so we just don't have the turnout to keep Connor only on grass, but if we had out own place with a fair amount of grass that we could rest etc, then we would most definitley try to keep him without hay - he's fat enough! It would be alot easier as he has to have soaked which is such a pain. Starsky on the other hand is getting older now and although he is definitely a see grass and get fat pony in summer, in winter he loses weight from his hips and shoulders (but still keeps the grass belly!) so needs to come in and have some hay.
