with photos of them being ridden in would be really useful.
I have decided to get a treeless saddle when I can afford one (will have to wait and see how much the vet bill is first). I hear about how comfortable they are, how well they fit numerous different horses and ponies. I have never ridden in one myself although my daughter has. The one I saw was a Barefoot I think, but to me that particular one made the legs of the 2 riders I watched sit too far back and thus tipping them forward. What other treeless saddles are there? What do you recommend personally and have you any photos of them being ridden in.
I like the idea of having a treeless for my 2 youngsters for when it is time to start work with them, however I don't want to feel unbalanced when riding in it, especially on a youngster.

I love my cheyennes.. I have two! here's a pic of one of mine... Excuse the hands... was trying to do an emergency reverse out the way of a swinging pony bum! Certainly doesn't make my legs go too far back.... In fact I'm always having to bring them back under myself!

I'm currently loaning a Barry Swain treeless for my very wide, large shouldered, low withered horse and I have to say it's extremely comfortable and believe me, I never thought I'd say that about a treeless saddle. I have tried the Ansur Konklusion - yuck and the Dartmoor Treefree (much better) but the Barry Swain is the best. It also looks like a normal saddle too.

I ride on a Torsion saddle, and I do love it. My recommendation would be to try as many as you can before you buy, what suits one person may not suit another.

I've also got the Barry Swain treeless saddle (the dressage and GP/jump versions - the Gp one is for sale as I don't use it).
They are very comfortable and because they have a gullet like a normal saddle there is less chance of pressure points on the spine developing. I would definitely recommend them.

I definitely second the 'try before you buy' advice. Chloe's website - www.freewebs.com/alternativehorse - is a great place to start your search; there are loads of different types listed there. I loved the barefoot cheyenne when I trialled it; unfortunately the size 1 was too small for me and the size 2 just a bit too big so I've actually ended up with a Freeform, which is incredibly comfortable.

Hi Spruce, could I possibly ask what kind of price you are looking for for the GP BS saddle? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to discuss on the open forum.

My rwym instructor has a Mondial Industries Holistic treeless saddle and it is the most fantastic saddle ever. I thought i would hate it, but no it is gorgeous. It looks like a normal saddle but you can feel everything going on underneath you without feeling unsafe. I think it is one of the only ones, like the heather moffat that clears all the nerves on the spine. Not sure about that explanation, but that was the gist i got. Look at the website www.katieeatonsaddlery.co.uk. It gives a bit of info about them, they are not cheap though they are about £1800. I would eventually like to get Tawny one of these if it would suit him, i am going to talk to Katie about. she has her own saddlery at Ashen where i go for my lessons. Nic x

I've got a Freeform and its the nicest of all the treeless saddles I've ridden in (tried barefoot, dartmoor treefree, SBS and fhoenix). The stirrup position can be moved on Freeform saddles. I did find the stirrup bars were too far back on the dartmoor treefree and couldn't get used to it at all, the others were all okay though a bit further back than I was used to with treed saddles. Don't have any pics though sorry.

I have got a Freeform SB. I love it! It hurt my legs to start with but it is relly comfy now. I would definitely agree that you need to try a few
