Hey all. My name is Lindsey and I did my five day foundation last week. So I was inspired by it all and left with so much information to take home and apply. So here's the thing, I work in racing in Newmarket and my heart sank when i went back to work today. I'm not sure i'm gonna be able to carry on watching some of the people I work with "abusing" the horses and knowing that the majority of them are too narrow minded to be open to guidance or ideas. I have thrown away my whip, and have got to say i feel i've fallen back in love with the exitement of horses. I learnt more last week than i have in the last ten years!! If you haven't done it, do it!!!!! Will keep you posted on my fight to change the racing world haha!!

Good luck Linz101. If it means you get even just one person to consider an alternative approach then you will have done a great thing for those horses :-)

Hi linz101,
I have to say I don't envy you, working amongst some of the more "traditional" horsemen. I'd like to say stick it out and maybe you could show them that our new fangled modern ways work, but you can only show to eyes that want to be open. But, as Casper says, even if just one pair of eyes can be a little bit open, you can do some good.
Good luck, and keep us up to date.

They are proving pretty tricky but i'm just quietly waiting to show them when the oppotunity arrives that our ways work better, come on horses, give me a challenge!!

I think...for what it's worth...that infiltrating the establishment is probably the best way to change it Training the people is always harder than the horses though, but even if you can only make a tiny difference, it's still a difference

Think you're very corageous.. being IH can be quite isolating .. importance is to build or have support.. this board is generally pretty good.. Quite agree that one of the best ways of changing an industry is from within.. all those infiltrators are very important

welocme to the nut house linz101, were a little bit like a secret sect, like the free masons! Some people have even taken to wearing (I think-can't remember) bindertiwne or something when in public places to recognise us by. You find you'll be having secret talks in descret areas! First you drop in a few clues, like leading the pony in front, you'll start to notice that some people don't stare, or loading funny, or even a riding instructor who lets you jump over the jump first or lead the pony over first, especially when the other instructor and DC arn't looking, then you'll mention a few names, mainly RA's and when this clicks with the other person the whole truth comes spurting out! There are lots of us out there, we just all keep quiet and try to blend!
